using swift LT with a narrow face?

Post by jaymp » Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:13 pm

Hi,

I am new to cpap and am using the swift LT nasal pillows. I have a very narrow face and jaw (with bmi of 21) and am wondering if any other swift LT users have a narrow face and could offer advice on making it fit better. The lower portion of the plastic reinforced sections that are over my checks and close to my nose do not make contact with my skin!

I'd probably try sliding some padding between the cheeks and the plastic section on each side of the face. Perhaps a folded square of T-shirt material, or flannel, or a makeup pad.

I have a narrow face and jaw (not extremely so, but I had to have teeth removed) and the small curved tabs at the front of the Swift LT mask do not touch my face at all times. One does when I lie on my side but the other does not. I don't think this is a problem as long as it is comfortable and does not leak.

I use the Swift LT For Her....if I lay on my side, then one of the plastic pads doesn't touch my cheek, either. My RT said the For Her is a tad smaller than the guys' version...don't know if that's true or not, but it could be an option. I have the extra small pillows and the headgear tightened as far as it will go. Maybe they need to make a still-smaller size? HTH!

As far as the measurements of the headgear (including the side pieces) I think the RT is mistaken.

According to birdshell, who put both side by side and looked at them closely --
The headgear for Swift LT and Swift LT For Her is exactly the same size. "For Her" comes with a set of extra small nasal pillows. That's the only difference.

I think "smaller" applies just to the size of nasal pillows that are packed with "For Her." As far as I know, the headgear wasn't changed except to make "Her's" light blue.
