Help Please! Forum posting problem

Post by plr66 » Thu Jan 01, 2009 8:45 am

Last night I suddenly encountered an "Internal Server Error" message when attempting to reply to a thread. Have tried many fixes on my own and with suggestions from Gumby--all to no avail. Called my ISP just now, and they confirm that this is a website issue. How do I contact a forum administrator to assist with this?

Wow--What a surprise that I was successful in posting. So if this reply to my post goes through, please ignore my request unless it would be important to apprise an administrator of this issue.

EDIT: I have just discovered that the problem seems isolated to the fact that I had copied a quote including forum links posted by RG (this is in the thread I started re "These runaway aberations are killing me!"). By a fluke, when I eliminated the quote with links from my reply, it went through successfully. Very strange. This is not an issue related to RG's links. They are always excellent. So I wonder if this does need to be reported to an admin.

I too have been having a lot of trouble. When I log in it shows me logged in fine, but if I start to reply to someone's post - it suddenly shows me as not logged in and I have to log in again - and the cycle repeats itself. This posting is the first reply I have been able to post in days.

Thanks,
Tracy

Bumping this to ask again if anyone knows how to report these issues to forum administrators.
Thanks--

Earlier I had a similar problem I isolated to the very bottom text where I added "ps. blah blah"
I am thinking I hit some key combination which may have caused my problem. Deleting the text seemed to fix it.

Suffice it to say that if you can't Preview the post - you won't be able to Submit it.

Computers can be tempermental sometimes...server errors are usually logged on the server so if they don't know about it, they probably will when they go through the logs

I sent the forum Admins a PM on Dec. 26th.......two DIFFERENT error messages (one was the same one that Gumby listed) but it's still sitting in the "Outbox".

However, I came up with a solution in one thread.....from the same scenario that "plr66" encountered. It was only going to allow me to list about 2 links at a time, so I created multiple posts with two links per post.

It also gave me that error on one other occasion when I was trying to paste the instructions for the Setup of one of the REMstar machines which is in TEXT format......so I found a couple of previous posts and listed the two links.

The other error I received was this one:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /CPAP-Sleep-Apnea-Forum.html.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Glad to hear that you did that, Den. Back to my first post: how does one go about notifying them of a problem? I couldn't find any contact info that was very clear.

Well, since they had posted to a thread recently, I just clicked on the username and sent them a PM.
I don't know if they ever check them or not. I've sent them messages in the past and finally ended up deleting them because they were still sitting in my Outbox after a lengthy period.
This time, I'm going to leave it in there to see how long it takes. On the other hand, they may read this thread sooner and reply here.

Beginning a couple of weeks before Christmas, I started getting that Internal Server Error when I tried to edit (add another link) to a couple of my "Links" topics. Most recently I've not been able to add to the Batteries links.

Then today or yesterday, I was replying to a new person's post. I had put several links in my reply. Kept getting the Internal Server Error. I took out the last two links, leaving just two other links in the post. It went through fine.

I experimented, trying to post it again with the additional links -- no go -- the Error message again.

Over and over, I could post my reply without the final two links, but could not post it with them left in.

I sent an email about it today to johnny@cpap.com (I really doubt they ever check PMs.)

Hope they can get it fixed, or it looks like I'll not be able to keep updating my "Links" lists.

Actually.......TrinhVu replied to one of mine back in September. (and relatively soon, too.)
