Free to a good home....

Post by stepbill » Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:04 am

I would prefer it go to someone that does not have insurance but I have a Mirage Swift LT nasal pillow mask and headgear with the three size pillows that I am giving away. I like the Breeze a lot better and thought I would give this to someone that could use it. All three pillows have been used slightly but have been cleaned with the Control III Disinfectant solution. I received this free during my tritation and just thought I would pass it on the same way. First one to PM me with their address gets it. I'll repost once it is gone. Please, someone without insurance

Stepbill, you reminded me that I wanted to do the same thing....

I have a Resmed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask, size Small (NOT with the headgear, though) that I'd like to give to someone. It's in perfect shape; was worn for less than two hours, then thoroughly cleaned. There are no pets and no smoking in my house. Same honor system as Stepbill's.... let's see these things go to people who are doing without xpap therapy because they can't afford it. So please PM me with your full name and address ONLY if you DON'T have insurance AND you're doing without because there's just not enough $$ in the pot. You can get the headgear anywhere from $22 up... see http://www.thefind.com/search?query=%22 ... x%5D=%2460.

I'll pay the shipping costs for the mask. Can ya do the same, Stepbill??

Anybody else have equipment you could give to someone who doesn't have insurance? We could make this a GREAT Christmas/holiday thread!!

Yes Marsha, I sure can! Sorry that it took me so long to get back but I was away from a computer. I waiting to hear back from the first response, Kiralynx, and if not, it will go to JayC. JayC, if Kiralynx takes that mask, I also have a Swift II with the medium nose piece that I will send you. As I said, I love my Breeze. I have two other people on the list if I need to move down. Thanks for the responses and have a very Merry Christmas!!!

I can provide the headgear. New, unused.

Let me know.

Great!! If I'm following this right, Kiralynx has a friend without insurance whose mask is broken, and Kiralynx wrote both to me and Stepbill, asking to get on our lists. No one else has PM'd me, but it looks like JayC and a couple of others responded to Stepbill. That's where we stand right now (I'm pretty sure), with Kiralynx waiting to hear from her friend. At any rate, I'm sure someone will want mine, so I'll let you know where to send it as soon as I do. Thanks a LOT, Carbonman.

Anybody else out there willing to give unused equipment to someone in need rather than going the cpapauction or ebay route? It's the ultimate high: giving something away with no hope of getting a penny, a tax deduction or any other concrete thing back. Just the warm knowledge of having done something right.

And I am waiting to hear from my friend's sister who's a CPAPer, has no insurance, recently had serious surgery (I think they borrowed for the surgery), and wasn't able to use her machine in hospital because her mask was broken in a way that she could cope with it at home, but not in the hospital. (Scary thought, that!)

I've emailed, asking for her phone number, 'cause she may not be online much just after surgery!

And since one is nasal pillows and the other's a ffm, my guess is we have a good chance that she'll be able to use one or the other. I guess this is the plan: as soon as Kiralynx lets us know which, if either, her friend can use, the other one will be available to someone else, and whoever gets my mask will get Carbonman's headgear. If I'm wrong on any of that, someone please correct me.

Wonderful! Thanks for joining the party, Carrie.

Folks, as Kiralynx is doing, even if you don't need it but know of someone else who does and doesn't have insurance/can't afford it, help us hook up with him/her. Thanks!!

stepbill and sleeplessinaz

I have PM'd both of you on your offers on behalf of my brother Jim.

In that PM is my real, off-board name, and address.

I just wanted to clarify that I plan on taking only *one* mask for him (if I am in line for more than one!!). I also would want to chose the "most complete" package if my name hits the top of more than one of the lists.

Just wanted to be clear, and note that coordination is needed as decisions are being made....

Thanks all for your generous kindness....

J
