Just got my Encore Viewer and Dt3500 reader

Post by wlo2008 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 3:12 pm

I installed the cd and then the driver from the cd. But the program will not recognize the reader. I am not sure what else I am doing wrong. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled and shut down and restarted.

I did get the reader seprate from the software. And the reader did not come with drivers. Is this the issue?

I have windows XP

Does that USB port work for anything else? Are you getting an error message?

In Encore go to Preferences > make sure it is set to USB and Not serial.

I Just have the Encore Viewer not the pro. I set the driver and it recognizes the driver but when I go to the software and it will not recognize it there. I did not download any other drivers. And I made sure it was set to the USB port. And I did not hook it to the front hub and in the back.

So I am not sure what else to do. The only thing I can think of is I got the software and the reader from two different cpap companies. Would that cause and issue. And on the software package it says to use PN 1014352 and the back of my reader says PN DT3500. But I thought they were the same thing.

In Encore Viewer go to Preferences > make sure it is set to USB and Not serial. It is a USB reader right?

Go Into Encore Viewer go to Preferences > make sure it is set to USB and Not serial.

The only other thing is to be sure you are putting the card in correctly. Yes, that has happened before. Buying from 2 different Co.'s would have no effect.

How are you putting the card in?

Face up with the little chip going in first. Am I doing it backwards by any chance?

No that IS the correct way - what color is the lite when you put the card in?

I remember reading something about the Service Pack (SP) having some affect - what SP are you?

Did you re-boot your computer after the initial install?
It also won't hurt to go through the install again. I had some quirk installing mine, too.....and did another install.

the light is red when I put the card in. Not sure what SP I am using. Were would I look to find out. I will try reinstalling it again.

So install the software then the driver. Restart the computer and then plug the reader in?

Want to make sure I am doing the process right. That could be the whole issue as well.

I was thinking (it's been awhile since I did this) the Viewer install program installed the drivers for the reader as part of it's install procedure.

Practice, practice......

LOL...I will try again. I am just getting so frustrated. I am feeling like I paid a lot of money for something that is not going to work. It has to. LOL

If all else fails, on the Viewer CD, there should be a subdirectory called "Smart Card Readers" and in there there's a Setup.exe program that could be manually executed that will install the reader drivers.
