Selling my software

Post by kayfouroh » Tue Jun 10, 2008 8:44 pm

Resmed 3.3 software (in box), with the Resmed card reader and card for the S8 series.

CPAP.com sells this all for:
Resmed 3.3 software: $145.95
Resmed Card Reader for S8: $69.95
S8 Resmed data card: $18.00
Total: $237.90

I am asking for $190USD + shipping.. so $200USD shipped anywhere in the US via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 day shipping).

If you have any questions feel free to PM me, I left the site for a while (just graduated college!) but I hope to be back!

EDIT: HUGE pictures ahoy!

That's not a particularly good price at all. There are at least two newer versions of ResScan out since 3.3 and the new S8 IIs are not recognized by ResScan 3.3

In addition, even the newer versions, can be found at a cheaper "unadvertised price" than cpap.com's "advertised" price.

I don't use a Resmed machine so can't use this software.

I do agree with Slinky about the price. $37.00 is not much of a savings and at your set price I would cough up the extra bucks and buy new. After all the warranty is worth something. If something should go wrong and your software doesn't work after receiving it the buyer has no recourse. IMHO if you want to sell it I would lower my price.

How is 175$ shipped? I am not sure what I bought it for a while ago.

I hate to throw a wet blanket on this - but - ResScan 3.3 is 2 versions old. It is NOT compatable w/the new Resmed S8 IIs, it is NOT compatable w/computers w/Vista. I'd say you would be lucky to get $125 w/shipping as a guess-timate. In other words, ResScan 3.3 isn't worth much more than the value of the cable reader and shipping.

Why don't you just put it on the auction and let the market determine the price?

Good suggestion, DreamStalker. Someone at cpapauctions might not be aware that 3.3 is outdated and as long as they had an S8 model or previous they would work just fine. The cable reader doesn't have the compatability problem at all.

Is the Resmed card reader similar to the Respironics M series reader? Do they use same type of smart card? Are they differently formatted?

They are entirely different and NOT compatable. One can't be used in place of the other. While not proprietary they are brand specific.

I assume you were referring to the card reader, and not the card itself. Yes, I can see that by putting the reader driver into thier software, rather than as a separate modular item that goes with any card reader, they can force you to require that particular reader. I wonder what would have happened if Canon cameras would print only on Canon printers It is a good thing they do not require one to buy their brand of PC to view the data Not enough competition, so they get away with this non sense.

Anyway, I would have thought the smart cards themselves would be the same, with a different format or possibly different storage capacity. The Respironics card in my M series, is exactly idential looking to the one in my DirectTV satellite network, all contacts will match. Of course the data FORMAT (I dont mean just the data) could be totally different.

Ya, well, I haven't ever knocked the "tank" series, just the M Series. And you WILL NOTICE I DID say as a BACKUP/TRAVEL device for my Resmed!
