Need opinions on the "Comfort Curve"

Post by GoodnightHoser » Fri May 09, 2008 9:09 pm

I'm a newbie struggling along with way more help from all of you than I get at the doctor's office! I hate my nasal pillows! They whistle and leak. If I get them to seal comfortably I'm afraid to move--not conducive to relaxing off to sleep! Thought the "Comfort Curve" sounded like the solution to my problems but the customer reviews on cpap.com are really mixed!! Any opinions out there? Also--I wake up in the middle of the night and my poor nose is FREEZING--is this a common occurence with nasal pillows? Again--I'm so glad I have all of you to vent to. My husband (a non-hoser) tries to be sympathetic but just doesn't get it. He is sleeping better though--at least for the three hours a night I manage to keep my mask on before I fling it across the room. Hey bad sleep is better than no sleep!!!

I love the Comfort Curve!!! It's by far the best mask I've used.

If the Comfort Curve can work for you, then you'll love it. It's quiet and comfortable. Once adjusted properly, it simply stays adjusted. Basically, the Comfort Curve offers the benefits of nasal pillows, but without the drawbacks of anything sticking inside your nostrils.

Drawback is that if you can't get it adjusted to work for you, then it's not gonna be worth much to ya.

I'll also add that the Comfort Curve has more adjustment settings than any other mask I've used, so it can take a little time to figure out what is gonna work for you.

Only way to know for sure is to try one. It's a risk/reward thing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least you've got your eyes open. .

Regards,
Bill

I hated the comfort curve, it squeezed my face really tight, and I am a short small person with a small face I wore it 1 time for 2 hours and sold it on cpapauction!

I just purchased the Headrest after using the swift 11 for 5 months and it stays in your nares way better than the swift and it has NO STRAPS that lay on your face, and it can be altered and has been altered by our number #1 LabRat expert "RESTEDGAL" Hi RestedGal...

Everyone is different, I am on my 8th. or 9th. mask now and i've been on cpap since sept or august 2007
It might work out fine for you, who knows???

Goodluck!

Comfort Curve

I also love the Comfort Curve! Been using it for about 2 years now, almost exclusively. It does have more adjustments than other masks but, if it works - as it does for me and a few others it works great!!
Last night I tried the new Cradle Cushions for my OptiLife. These new cushions make the OptiLife just like the Comfort Curve but with no cheek pads!!! I've had the OptiLife for awhile but had a little trouble with the nasal pillows. With the Cradle Cushions, it's great!! I don't know if I have a new favourite or not!

Comfort Curve

GoodnightHoser - I hope you like the Cradle Cushion for the OptiLife as much as I do! I have only used it one night but, since I had no trouble with the Comfort Curve, I expect this may be even better. I have done really well with the Comfort Curve and now I have an alternate mask that is virtually the same - with no cheek pads, which seem to be the biggest problem for those who have tried the Comfort Curve! Good luck!

yep, it seems like the folks who can get 'em to work say there's nothing better, but for every one of them, there are a couple folks like me who can't get the dang things to fit at all.

I picked one up off cpap auction a few weeks ago, and have not been able to get anything approaching a seal. I guess it really depends on the size/shape of your face. if you want to give a used one a try before committing to buying new, send me a private message and we can make arrangements. or check out cpap auction - a lot of times you can pick them up on the cheap.

new CC cushion

Question for CC users -

How often do you need a new CC cushion?

My CC doesn't work as well as it used to. Looks ok, but maybe the cushion needs replacing?

We don't have the insurance here that you do in USA, will have to buy out of pocket.
