totally off the wall -- made your own mask?

I just had this thought today, wondered if anyone has ever tried to make their own CPAP mask. I figure some of the lab rats here have probably come pretty close, but I was just curious.

Making own mask

Now that's a thought! Might be tempting, but without the ability to measure the output thru the vents, I'd probably end up killing myself and being in one of those streaming news stories across the top of the page.

I've actually thought about doing this. I need to look more at the readily available silicone compounds. Don't need a rash. But using existing parts (including exhaust ports) I was thinking of custom molding a mask. If I do it right, it should seal perfectly. Might look a bit odd though. I was thinking of calling it "The Squid"
