Love/Hate relationship with your machine??
Hi all,
I seem to go through cycles. Sometimes I see it as my friend......other times, a really irritating jerk I have to have around.
Maybe its my other sleep issues (alpha wave intrusion/fibromyalgia), but I just really feel bipolar when it comes to this machine! Anyone else??

Yes, that sounds about right --- some nights want to throw it in the trash, others I want to hug it

Re: Love/Hate relationship with your machine??
Cpap at times is a love, hate relationship. In my own case I was was quite excited starting out, feeling the treatment was all worth the minor inconveniences, which it certainly is, the rewards are proven, but the times when air leaks, sore face tissue being caused by poor mask fit, etc, etc, etc, I think back to being able to sleep in any position, not worrying about mask leaking from pillow, also the snuggling with my wife, without the air exhaust blowing making her cold. But then I'm stubborn and feel I want to hang around as long as I can, so I hang in there and convince myself its a small price to pay if it gives you better health. Hang in there all of us have had bad times using this treatment, strive for better treatment, don't settle if you have an issue, there are so many great people on this site, the response is quick for an answer, take what makes sense to you and try to remain positive.Country4ever wrote:Hi all,

mostly HATE!
I still have yet to make it through the night. If I wake up, I take the mask off because I can't get back to sleep with it on or, I wake up in the morning to find the mask on the floor......

All you need is love
Well, for me it's just been a love relationship--sleep so much better, feel so much better, avoiding the potential damage to my heart if I didn't have it . . . What's not to love :<)

It'll get better. It's ok to start off slowly. I did the same thing at first with my Swift. I kept up with my usage, and my first goal was 4 hours per night. Then after a couple of months somebody here suggested using Ayr Gel with the Swift, and it made a world of difference. I went to wearing it all night almost immediately.still have yet to make it through the night. If I wake up, I take the mask off because I can't get back to sleep with it on or, I wake up in the morning to find the mask on the floor......
I just looked at those old records. It took 163 hours of use to get to 7 hours for the first time. Then 400 hours before it was over 7 consistently. I suspect this was when I found out about Ayr Gel.

CPAP therapy is so easy you can do it in your sleep!
As far as my, Love/Hate relationship with XPAP, the only time I've hated it was when the mask broke and I had to spend 4 hours in a chair sleeping. Now I have a supply of extras built up.
So it's Love from now on. Breathing at night is a good habit to get into.
The option is to whine, and not "Get ER Done" Jim

Thanks everyone for all your replies!
I seem to find it quite do-able when I'm really tired. But when I'm having trouble getting to sleep, it drives me nuts.
Sometimes I just have to stay away from it for a few days. Then I start getting tired again, and am much more able to take it back.
Sometimes if I don't need to function at maximum capacity the next day, I'll give myself a day off, and just enjoy the quiet and turning over in bed without worrying about the mask and the tubing, etc.
I guess its easy to get ticked off with it......but when I think about how lousy I felt without it, It makes me try to be more patient with it.

I'll buck the trend too like Jim ... it's been love from the first night although I got extemely love sick on my third night when I took her for granted because of a raw nose and did not sleep with her. I was very sorry the day after and we have not been apart every night since.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
It's never been anything but a "love" relationship as far as I'm concerned.
We've been "sucking face" for 2 1/2 years and I look forward to going to bed every night.

I waffle but mostly I think it's a pain in the ass and I am in complete denial about using it the rest of my life.
It's a good thing I had such severe symptoms or I would have launched $$$ it into a bon fire.
I still think weight loss and or surgery will save me.
One of the guys at work said: "Don't you just love your machine? Man, I sleep like a baby with mine."
I wish I had the same gratitude.
I need to remember that saying:
IF YOU CAN'T CHANGE YOUR REALITY - YOU BETTER CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE.
OK! Good night. Grumpy's going to bed.

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regrets; for I am far surer of what is kind, than I am of what is true.
Absolutely!!!!! I always refer to my newbie stage(2 years ago) as the LOVE/HATE relationship. There were a couple of nights the mask and machine were thrown across the bedroom because of frustration. Now I sleep with my best friend every single night.

The pain in the ass here comes from the 1/4 of a heart that still pumps, and not being able to do anything that I've done all my life.ZZZzzz wrote:I waffle but mostly I think it's a pain in the ass and I am in complete denial about using it the rest of my life.

Also last week finding out the defibulator they implanted a year ago, has defective leads, leads they can't remove. So much for the Energizer Bunny.
I'll gladly put up with something that works for me, instead of against me. Jim
