Night Three- Still struggling for a night's sleep

Post by Idget » Mon Oct 22, 2007 7:14 am

I just completed night three. I switched masks last night around 1am. I was using the Mirrage Quattro full face mask that I got from the Sleep Study Lab. My DME gave me a Mirrage Liberty. I couldn't sleep the first two nights, still didn't have good sleep last night, but I definetly liked the Liberty better than the Quattro, which left marks and overall hurt my face. Hoping tonight is the night that I actually sleep for more than an hour at a time. I keep fighting the feeling is this really worth it, maybe if I just slept on my side this problem would go away by itself.

Of course you should sleep on your side it that's what makes you comfortable. Have you looked at the pillow recommendations (for you head? Have you checked the hose management tips (dangling from above)? Both might make sleeping on your side easier.

Hang in there, Idget!

The first weeks can be quite a trial as we get used to the whole process. As I think was mentioned in another thread, it might help to find the least objectionable mask out of several and stick with it for a few weeks while tweaking it here and there (refer to past threads) and then start experimenting.

Good luck!

Excellent suggestions have been given. In addition you might want to check out the Mask Fitting suggestions under the Red Ball w/the Question Mark in it at the top of the page.

And also checking out the info under the Yellow Lightbulb at the top of the page should help you w/some good background and up to date information on accepting and adjusting to CPAP therapy.

Good luck! Hang in here with us and we'll all help in any way we can.

If the Quattro is hurting your face, it's either the wrong size or WAY too tight.....or both.

Hello:
I just purchased and used for the third night the Mirrage Liberty. I like the prong feature and a times I sleep with my mouth open. I have to experiment with how tight or loose it should be.
