damn cat

Post by catbirdgirl » Thu Jul 12, 2007 6:05 am

I pulled him off my tubing 3 times last night. Not sure if it's WHERE the tubing is on the bed, over my head, which is where he sleeps or that he LIKES the tubing. I'm going to try hanging it off the SIDE tonight and see if that works.

If I shut him out of bedroom he will yowl loudly.

getting rid of him not an option either,

I also dreamed that a guy from a I guess it was DME came to my work cause he'd ripped a hole in the tubing. He hasn't though.

My spouse (we) have a yellow tom named Archie who is a stone killer of every thing that walks.crawls or flies. He normally sleeps with our German Shepard. but from time to time he will sleep curled up next to my wife. I was concerned that he might try to mug my hose after reading posts like yours, but so far he ignores the hose. Regards

catbirdgirl, there is a bitter apple spritz product available at pet stores you can get and spray on the tubing. That should keep them away with no fuss, no muss.

Good luck!

That's an excellent idea, I have 4 cats and don't want them chewing up my tubing, when I get my tubing that is, due to have this stuff tomorrow.

Just been diagnosed and am waiting for delivery of my machine. I hope my cat doesn't have the same "adjustment" problems!

Just pretend that you WANT the cat to play with it. PROBLEM SOLVED.
I just want to go back to sleep!

Some people have found that putting a hose cover on the hose makes the cat lose interest in it. My cats have yet to show they care one way or the other, so I don't know how well it works, just that other people have reported good results. My cats like to lie on the hose when it's lying on the bed during the day but that's about it. They mostly try to stay away from the equipment at night; they don't like the air from the exhaust.

I made my hose cover out of fleece from a fabric store and wraparound non-sticky tape like they use to hold gauze on nowadays. One of these days I'll attach velcro permanently but I haven't yet.

Four cats and so far so good......
None of them have shown any interest. (Knock wood).......
Haven't introduced them to the air blowing -- that's all I need. A cat sitting on my chest, batting at the masks air vent!!!!

My cats have no interest in the hose thank goodness, but I have worse problems with two of them. They walk on my cpap machine and their paws turn on or off my humidifier and my machine depending on which button they randomly step on.

To keep the cats off the machine, or at least stop them from hitting any buttons, just put the machine in a cat carrier. They come in hard plastic, or soft sided. The carriers have plenty of air vents andt the cats won't get to the buttons.

I managed to get the cats to leave the hose alone by adding a hose cover. however, anyone have any tips on how to get the cat to leave the exhalation port alone????
