Call For Questions: Teleflex Bravo Nasal CPAP Mask

Post by forumadmin » Wed May 23, 2007 5:14 pm

Howdy CPAPtalkers,

We will soon be interviewing Teleflex, makers of the popular Hybrid Full Face Mask/Nasal Pillow System. They have launched a new Nasal Pillow System called the Bravo. Here's a link to the product referenced:

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/bravo- ... rface.html

If you have any questions you would like us to ask, please post them to this thread before Wed May 30 and we will pass them on to Teleflex.

Johnny

Alrighty, I got a question.

How did stomach sleepers fare with your mask during your product trials? It seems that the tubes passing over the ears and exhaust out front would interfere with stomach sleeping.

How would back sleepers fare with this interface? It appears that the hose connection on the back of the head is not padded and would be between the head and pillow.

In what other positions (i.e., chest) can this interface be worn and how is the nasal portion supported then?

What is the best solution to wash my new Bravo in?
I know it sounds like a simple question, but I made me Nasal Aire II tubing hard and darker after washing it in dishwashing soap over a few months and it's just not as plyable as it was when I bought it.
I know Innomed and Respcare are related so the products might have some similarities as far as what it can be washed in.
Let's just say I want my Bravo to stay white, so what should I use?

Just by looking at this new mask, it looks a lot like what I am currently using - the Snapp-X. The piece below the pillows on the Bravo are a little smaller that what I'm using, so that's nice. I also like that they are claiming it's quiet!

I like Snapp-X allright, I guess, but have two complaints about it: 1) it's not very quiet (the exhaust port). It's louder than my machine! 2) the material it's made out of is really soft....it is comfortable next to my skin, but it is really almost too soft - I woke up a couple of times compressing one of the tubes (by laying on it with my head) and wasn't getting very much air.

So, how soft is the material the Bravo is made of?

I might have to try the new Bravo if I hear that the things I complained about above are not present in the Bravo!

How well does it work for side sleepers? I currently use the Swift II and like it a lot, but it seems to work best for back sleepers. Even sleeping on the "good" side without the tube, the pillow tends to bump it. The bravo looks at least as wide as the Swift.

Also, what is meant by "The Bravo Nasal Pillow Interface System contains all the components required to properly size the patient, eliminating the hassel of opening multiple products to get the right fit."

What is adaptive flow technology?

How does this mask work at higher pressures?

Any limitation as to which machines can be used with it?

Thanks.

Sorry, that guest was me. Having computer problems lately, I noticed the guest didn't even include my name in parentheses.

After one night I'm still very pleased with this mask. I need to tweak some yet but had a very good night's sleep. It did make my nostrils sore but that was expected. There was no pressure on my upper lip, no strap marks and I was comfortable on my back and sides. I just left it in the under chin position but it does come with velcro loops to position over your head. The exhaust was very quiet except when the pillows got a little displaced. That's what I need to tweak but I don't anticipate any problems getting it to be silent. This is a great find for a small head and the best part is that the back strap actually sits on the back of my head, not on my neck or my forehead like some others did. So now my Optilife has dropped to second place in my favorites.

I also could not use the Comfortlite as it covered my eyes, the Mirage Vista also covered my face and pulled my hair at the nape of my neck, the Swift is good but I really like this one. What makes it so good for small heads is the setup of the straps and that they adjust in 2 directions instead of just snugging down and pulling a buckle to where it was never intended to be. I'm impressed. I don't sleep on my face so can't address that issue.

When meeting with the powers that be, tell them they have at least one really happy user.

Motherall,
Is the reservoir (barrel) of the Bravo less wide than the Swift? From the pictures on their web-site, it does appear smaller and a bit more curved towards the face. Is that the case?

Is it quieter than the Swift?

2 questions for Teleflex?Respcare:
1.When can I expect my DME to have this in stock?
2. Does the Bravo have the same high rate of Co2 exchange as the Hybrid?

The Bravo is nearly silent like the Optilife unless the nasal pillow slips out a little. I expect to have that conquered soon. The nasal barrel is about the same width as the Swift, but much smaller in circumference and flexible between the hookup to the air tubes. You can actually bend the barrel in half. It is very soft and the pillows are also. It does hug the shape of your face because of this making it very comofrtable to side sleep with.

Yup, basically. On my stomach with my arms under my pillow. I think the tubes would get in the way.

Blarg,

One of the 4 positions (in fact the bottom right) on the Bravo web-site http://www.respcare.com/bravo/info.htm looks very similar to the Twilight NP nasal pillows mask.

If you are currently using the Twilight NP nasal pillows, wouldn't that position work for you?
