New auto sv user needs helps

Post by Cranksberry » Mon Jul 11, 2022 10:10 pm

My husband had a severe stroke and one month back we discovered he had severe sleep apnea ahi 54 with osa, central and mixed apnea. We went on cpap and then bipap and a week back on Philips autosv advanced system one. Settings are
Max p 25
Epap min 9.5
Epap max 13
Bpm auto
Ps min 4.0
Ps max 11.0

But on this, his ahi are still above 40 and throughout the night spo2 will drop from 90plus down till below 60 and then rise agian and then down and so on and so forth. I do not know what I can do to help him as he hasn't communicate. But can tell that he is making a lot of effort with this machine. Appreciate if can shed light on what i can do to make this work for him.

Eg the moment machine is on, short after his snoring and gasping will start and it will last throughout. It is as if this machine is doing nothing to help him and I don't know why.

Ps min 4.0
Ps max 11.0
PS/Pressure support is usually what is needed to deal with the central apneas. I wonder if more PS needs to be available.
I think the max available is 15...so PS being limited may be the problem.

Or it might be that the EPAP settings are limiting the machine's ability to deal with the obstructive stuff.

Lets see exactly what is happening.

Is he actually sleeping with the machine and mask on?
