Hi all, I have been using CPAP for about 4 nights now and I think I am doing ok but trying to read the Oscar data is really confusing to me. I think that the one break in pressure is when I had to disconnect and get up to turn the heat on. Could someone please let me know if I should change or adjust anything? Thank you very much.

Re: Read and Decipher Oscar?
Time to start sneaking your bottom pressure up to at least 8.
A little bit at a time, a few days each level.
4 cm is too low to start when your 95% pressure is over 10.

Re: Read and Decipher Oscar?
95% pressure numbers just mean the person was at OR BELOW that number for 95% of the night.
It's just a number...no more and no less and it doesn't necessarily mean that someone needs to be using that number (or near that number) for the bulk of the night.
95% numbers are easily skewed to the high side by a relatively short period of time at higher pressures.
This is what happened on the above report. Short period of time where more pressure was needed at around 3:30 to 4:15.
Most likely either REM stage sleep or supine sleeping or maybe a combination of both resulted in the OSA being worse and needing a higher pressure to hold the airway open.
The rest of the night things were really well controlled.
Often when we increase that minimum pressure a little bit and give the machine a better head start then the machine might not need to go so high anyway.
I think a minimum pressure of 6 would be a good choice to try and see if it keeps clusters like what is seen above, away before I would be wanting to go to 8 cm minimum. At this point I don't think 8 cm minimum is needed.
I would want to try less first. Might get lucky and with 6 cm minimum that cluster doesn't happen.
I don't ever base pressure needs on 95% numbers when the only time the higher pressure is seen is for a 30 to 45 minute time frame during the night. Now if it were half the night or more...different story.
Besides...only 4 nights on cpap....need to know if that cluster has happened before or happens again in the future.
If a random rare occurrence I wouldn't go making any big changes in anything.
