NEW Machine

Hi all,
I am in the market for a new auto bilevel machine. My machine is fairly old - An S9 VPAP auto.
Is it possible to get into clinician setup on these newer machines to make adjustments your self like on the older series of machines?
I remember reading long time ago all the new machines would be wirelessly connected to the provider with RX info and controlled on provider end.
Is this true?
If so is there a work around?
I like to be able to make adjustments on my own.

Im looking at philps respironic or resmed machine leaning towards PR as last time i checked their machines run on 12 volts. I go camping some times and can bring a marine battery to power the machine.. nice and easy no inverter required..

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I warmly recommend the ResMed VAuto. Yes, it is easy to change the settings yourself. You can put the machine in airplane mode if you don't want data to be sent anywhere by wireless, though your provider may actually not care whether you change the settings yourself.

The PR bilevel is under a big recall effort right now, due to potential health problems with the sound abatement foam inside them.

Thank you for the reply. It appears as though all the PR machines are sold out any ways. My main concern was being able to take control of the machine and you answered my question.

I've heard the new dreamstation 2 does not work with the oscar software. I have an aircurve 10 vauto which does and I can get in and change stuff myself.

Our advice--stick with Resmed machines.
It looks like respironics intends to withhold info/control from the patient.
Avoid their stuff.

Correct. The AirCurve 10 VAuto will work just like your current S9 VPap auto works.
I have used the S9 VPAP Auto and currently use the AirCurve 10 VAuto.

I know the lure of 12 volt with Respironics is there but even if the DreamStation 2 wasn't so difficult to get data or change your own settings.....Respironics hasn't yet even released a DreamStation 2 Auto BiPap model. The machine you would need isn't even available yet.

Be happy with the ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto...it's a great machine and essentially does exactly what the S9 does only better. If you want to go camping and need to go with 12 volt...there are ways to get it done. Not quite as convenient and just a bit more costly but will be worth it in the long run.

I do have have a PR system1 Auto SV Advance in the closet which can be used for camping duties. I found it was a little too aggressive for me and preferred the S9 Vpap Auto and its more basic functionality to that of the servo ventilator.

The convenience of the 12 volts was great.. just bring a heavy duty marine battery and your good to go for days.

You can dumb the Respironics ASV down a bit and make it a bit less aggressive if you wish but please be aware that it likely is part of the recent Respironics recall.

Well I jumped through all the hoops with insurance for the last small amount they would pay for and it's all approved. Our provincial government insurance covers most at 70%.
So there some relief on my end but now I am on a waiting list for this new machine with no idea of when it would arrive.
A few days ago my Resmed Vpap auto starts making a strange motor noise. It's constant and gets louder with each breath. The noise is bothering my wife on the other side of our king size bed as well as me right beside the machine. Sounds like a bearing on the motor is gone.

So I had no choice other than to pull out my trusty PR SystemONE auto Sv advance.

Funny thing the Resmed has only 7k hours on it and the bearing is gone meanwhile I've dragged the PR machine around the globe with me numerous times which includes it being in a backpack while I've crossed rivers on bamboo bridges and it has 14k hours and it still works great.
Go figure huh.
No sure if I should worry about this sound abatement foam. I don't recall ever seeing anything in the water tank. I've never used any of those cleaning things on the machine and for the most part it's always been used in climate controlled sleep settings aside from a few trips to various place in the world. The machine is under recall as I've checked and registered it. But I'm not holding my breath and waiting on anything from PR.
I'm not sure what the big deal is . Any chunks or particles would first land within the water in the tank and Then have to get the lung mucus and the lungs would clean themselves as normal. Off gassing? I'm sure that's all done long ago before 14k hours on the machine.

Any way I have a basic S9 Cpap machine. Can I take the motor out of that and put into S9 VPAP Auto? Has any one done this before?
Any instructions?

Forget about my last 2 questions. I came a cross the thread titled "Resmed S9 Elite Tear down with pictures".
Instead of swapping motors I just swapped the circuit board and top cover from the VPAP Auto to the S9 Elite. No more motor noise. Technically I did swap motors..
Easy peasy and took about an hour.
