REMstar plus motor
REMstar plus motor
Can someone tell me the voltage and current draw for the blower motor in the REMstar plus? I Googled it, but couldn't find anything.
Re: REMstar plus motor
No they can not, the motor is controlled and changes as needed, it's not just a fan motor. Jim

Re: REMstar plus motor
If it's running full speed, what is the voltage and current draw?

you might check with acbio.com as they do repairs of cpap machines, among other things.

Which "generation"? The "Plus" model has been made for over 20 years and there have been several generations of them......the Legacy, the M Series, the System One 50 Series, the System One 60 Series, and the Dreamstation.
AND.......that information has ALWAYS been available in the User Manuals. You might want to check there first.

You might go to a old landfill, dig down about 100 feet, 'I threw a old 1950 type round hair dryer, that used a hose and use it. It would be faster and more effective, or rethink your uncesary cleaning routine. Jimtanker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 10:56 amI haven't used this CPAP as a CPAP for a long time as I have a new one. I was using this one to dry my hose and water chamber until yesterday when the PC board failed. I'd like to continue using it with a power supply to dry my hoses and chamber. I finally found in the manual that DC power requirements are 12 VDC and 3 amps so I'm going to have to use a larger DC power supply that I thought. I have a car battery trickle charger. I'll have to look at it and see if it can supply 3 amps.
That spec for the of 3 amp is running of the CPAP.

Most of us no longer clean our hoses because we have realized it is unnecessary and OCD.
But do what makes you happy, because it matters to YOU.

Re: REMstar plus motor
Why do you think it IS necessary???
You're going to be putting moisture right back in the hose in a short time.
If you think it is necessary to "clean" it, do it before bedtime and the remaining moisture in the hose will be added to the humidity coming from the humidifier tank. Use the "K.I.S.S. principle!
Talk about wasting time!? This is one of them. I've never "cleaned" a hose in over 15 years of therapy.

Well I can't speak for everyone but, tanker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 5:27 pmHow did everyone come to the conclusion that cleaning the hose is a waste of time? My CPAP supplier told me to clean it.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:10 pmMost of us no longer clean our hoses because we have realized it is unnecessary and OCD.

- I know that any pathogens in the hose are from my environment and therefore I've been exposed to them and have antigens.
- The air that goes through the hose is filtered better than the air I breathe without CPAP.
- I've read studies that confirm people who use CPAP do NOT get sick respiratory illness at a rate greater than those who don't use CPAP. Therefore hurtful pathogens are not being transmitted from the device
- I understand that pathogens and sediment can not evaporate and there for use the humidity as a transportation vehicle.

OK, thanks. Just read the following, do you agree with this?..........Tubes develop small micro-holes over time that can lower the pressure and performance of your therapy. Tubes can also be hard to clean. They need to be replaced about once every 3-6 months as bacteria and mold can build up in the hard to reach spots.

I would also like to know the source. DME's have a habit of wanting you to replace your equipment at the minimum time frame that insurance is willing to pay for it.
My current hose will be 3 years old this February.
And let's assume that they did develop micro-holes. All modern CPAP machines are capable of sensing the pressure and then compensate by increasing the flow.
This is how they compensate for the venting, leaks, different altitudes.
