My Air App

Post by deerslayer » Fri Jul 24, 2020 6:48 am

Curious how many of us use the my air app on their phones to track data ?
Ever since i started using my latest Resmed machine , have been accessing daily to check leak data , etc. & only pulling SD card once in a blue moon to run on Sleepyhead .

I can't remember the last time I used My Air. It gives so little information. I long ago switched to Sleepyhead and now I use OSCAR. Do I check every day? Sometimes, but usually every week or two. Or three. (I guess I switch things up! )

If you look at the Sleep Report on your machine's screen, you will get lots more data than the MyAir...and it's available the minute you wake up.
The setting for ESSENTIALS must be PLUS.

I don't use the MyAir app. The on screen data is enough for me and pretty much what the MyAir shows minus the pat on the back sleep score thing. I don't need the pat on the back thing myself. I already know if I slept good or not by what my body tells me.

So for a quick glance...the LCD screen sleep report is enough for me and if I want more details I use the available software.
Since I rarely really need the details I download that SD card maybe every 2 to 4 weeks depending on my mood. I will download more often if I am experimenting with something like a new mask but after 11 years on cpap....it's not going to change much from day to day and I just don't need to see those details all that often.

Heck, most mornings I don't even glance at the sleep report on the machine.

Cast my vote for looking at the data on the machine display every morning as soon as my feet hit the floor. My therapy is optimized and stable, so I download the card infrequently.

The RT at my DME says that many patients have improved their compliance since myAir became available. It's a motivating tool especially for newbies.

I can see where it would probably be a nice motivational tool for newbies. I remember what I was like back in the dark ages and wanting to see my data first thing every morning while I had my morning coffee. It can give people goals and a pat on the back for achieving goals does make this therapy a bit easier to swallow especially if someone is struggling. People like rewards and pats on the back. It's just the way we are.

Me...after 11 years....I know my apnea is well covered and not my problem...the crappy sleep from my other issues...that's another thing. I think this morning I glanced at the hours of use and that's all I bothered to look at on the LCD screen. My doctor and I are trying a new drug experiment to see if we can improve my sleep quality and reduce the sleep maintenance insomnia from the back/pelvic issues I am having. I didn't even look at the AHI but I am betting between 1 and 2 and the bulk of it SWJ. I will look later because I need to download and track the hours of use since the introduction of the new medication. It's been about 10 days now so maybe enough time to spot some sort of trend starting to happen.

i've never used my air. always used sleepyhead and now oscar.

unlike most of the forum members, i still look at my chart every day. it's a morning ritual for me.

i think the only other member with any "seniority" that DOES look every day is wulfman.

but people being different, i'll wager we'll see some folk come by who do as you do.

whatever works, i say.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I look at it now and again, when I remember, just
to check my leak rate. I never remember to look at the screen. I haven't used Oscar in a while now that things are dialed in. It is too much of a pain to get my old lap top out and working. If I'm having issues, though, Oscar is the ticket.

I do as well.

Because I use a WiFi SD card, there's no inconvenience, forgetting cards anything.

I get up, grab a coffee, transfer the data and scan my chart.

I thought once (briefly) about doing the WiFi thing but then I saw all the steps involved to set it up and the cost of the card and decided I was too lazy and too cheap.

My house is tiny....like really tiny...it's about 20 steps from my couch and my laptop to my cpap machine in my bedroom to get the SD card. Now sometimes I do forget and leave the SD card in the computer but I just call myself a dumb ass and shrug my shoulders and move on.

Besides...I need the exercise anyway.
After 11 years...I can pretty much predict what the software will show anyway before I ever see it.
I will look more closely if I am experimenting with a new mask to check for leaks mainly because I know I have been able to sleep through some pretty massive leaks and I wouldn't want to ignore those.

Interesting comments ☺️
The app works for me
1. Looking at the machine screen fist thing would happen after I put my glasses on and take a pill . NOT gonna happen , bathroom and coffee comes next .
2. Sit down with said coffee and later compare leak data to see if I need to throw away old nasal pillows
3. Sleep Doc doesn’t even need to see sd card & reads data remotely.
With #’s under 1 consistently I don’t need to pat myself on the back , just Blessed *
Different strokes, Prost know it all’s

I used to dwell on the data, but after getting my treatment working to the max, I lost the need to obsess over it, unless I feel the need. I find that if I get excessive leaks, it's handy to check that, usually means it's time to change the mask silicone. Jim
