Respironics System One

Post by sbra24 » Sat Apr 11, 2020 8:24 pm

my machine dries my mouth out so bad. What should the settings be set on as far as the water goes?

1. Dry mouth is almost always due to mouth breathing. You can crank the humidifier all the way up, but you will still have the problem. And if you don't have a full face mask, you are getting no benefit from your CPAP if the air is going right out of your mouth. If you have a full face mask, at least your treatment can work. So please fill out your member profile (Click on your name on the right hand side of the screen under the red cross and fill in your member profile) with your equipment so we can help you. There are some ways to determine if it is mouth breathing and what to do about it.

2. The System One is an old, outdated machine. Hope you didn't just buy it new. It has a known flaw with the humidifier (manufacturer's defect) so it's likely you are not getting any humidification anyway. And they are not that great at humidification, even when they do work. Tell us how you ended up with that machine.

My first CPAP was a PR System One, brand new. Humidifier didn't work from day one. The DME replaced it with another new one and it worked. I migrated to a Dreamstation, then an Airsense 10 Autoset. I've never looked back.
