My wife says I'm weird because I like using the CPAP

Post by thecoast » Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:02 am

So I started using the machine a week ago. It didn't count my first two nights for some reason. I have used it for the full night since the beginning.

I told my wife I like using the machine, that the air pressure feels good. She told me I'm weird. :) Note that she is an RN with decades of experience.

Anybody else had or have the experience of liking the sensation of their CPAP?

Oh, HELL YES.
Not weird or crazy--just smart enough to know what's good for me.
Maybe you have too much life insurance . . .

wife says I'm weird
It's like third grade: Any time a girl says a boy is weird, it's really her way of saying she thinks he's cute and she likes him. So I suggest you just roll with it. Keep using CPAP and stick your tongue out at her and tell her she has cooties. That will show her.

I totally agree--- I like the feeling of being able to breathe.

I'm especially fond of being completely buried for long periods of time under deep multi-layered thick, warm covers and never having to create a breathing hole or coming out for a breath of cooler, room-temp air. Its always the same comfy temp 'neath the security of the mask!

If it's "weird" to like it and "normal" to not be able to tolerate it, all the weirdos like you will live to be old, and all those "normal" people will die young.

Your strategy has some appealing features, earthling. I may implement them in opportune contexts.

Wow. I like covering my head when I sleep and you're exactly right. A benefit I did not expect to reap with a piece of medical equipment strapped to my face. 8)

i didn't at first. had a hell of a time getting used to it. and that's the route of the majority of folks, i think.

but yeah, NOW i like it. i like the feeling of the air sort of being "sipped" into my nasal pillow mask.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

The air intake is a long ways from the scene of certain undercover gaseous "crimes".

I have come to appreciate the fringe benefits of masking up. Breathing perfectly fine under thick heavy blankets is one of them :)

Because I wear headband to hold hair out of the way, FFM, an anti-leak strap over the mask + a hard cervical collar that my wife says I look like I am in an ICU on life support - the scene of me sleeping is nothing short of extreme weird.

Her using her nasal pillows and a chin strap looks kinda silly too. Our kids must think we look half dead when we sleep.
