myair resmed results page

Post by aspirante » Thu Oct 17, 2019 7:35 am

I find it suspicious that Resmed's MyAir (https://myair.resmed.com ) invariably gives me great scores whenever I keep the mask for longer hours (thereby using the machine for at least 5 hous per night), and this is so even when my AHI scores suck. During the last 9 days, my AHI has never dropped under 6.5, often over 7.4 events, and yet I get great marks!

Anyone can explain this? I thought the AHI was the most important value.

welcome aboard. others will be along to explain it. i can't as i've never used it.

may i suggest you get the free software, oscar? it gives a very great level of detail and will be of great help to you. from what i've read of other peoples posts here, my air doesn't give you a lot to work with. and it's considered more of a "good job!" kind of app.

good luck!

The whole purpose of the ResMed My Air site is to encourage you to use your machine. If they give you "feel good" numbers, you are more likely to use the machine. If you really want to see what is going on, download Oscar and use that to monitor your treatment. This is especially helpful if and when you decide to take control of your own treatment as most of here have done.

Yes, Myair is useless.
Especially for trying to improve your therapy efficacy.

It's of the "YOU PARTICIPATED! HERE'S YOUR TROPHY" mindset.

I got a 100 last night. I believe that makes me a wonderful and successful person in general, which makes me like myself even more--which isn't easy, because I really, really like myself. In fact, I've been walking around all morning giving random people hugs and telling them that I scored a 100 last night. So far, no one has asked me what that means or has called the authorities on me.

It is a quick and easy way for me to see AHI and mask-on time. Both numbers are, by definition, useful, but those numbers are also reported to me each morning on the screen of my machine. I find the myAir page useful to me for seeing trending at a glance, but I would use other software approaches if I truly needed to troubleshoot my therapy.

But to get to the heart of the question, use of the machine is more important than AHI at the start of using PAP. Once the person is using the machine regularly, then AHI takes on more meaning, and myAir will eventually address that in reminders to the patient, I believe--similar to the way it will send tips for getting leak numbers lower if they remain high. PAP only works at all if you use it, so in that sense, usage trumps AHI.

Well, the thing is, I have to live with me 24/7.

And, hey, myAir seems to like me too! Well, most of the time, anyway.

And palerider hasn't picked on me for several months. So at least I've got THAT going for me, right?!

70% of the score you can get is for time used. Only 5% is for AHI. You could have 100+ events per hour and still get a 95. It's quite gimmicky but since the days is all based on the same parmeters, it can give you a quick, easy to see, high level guide on what's going on.

Agree completely.

One of he biggest challenges for CPAP is to put it on and stick with it.

Including myself, I know 9 people on CPAP. Six stuck with it, 3 have abandoned it. I'm not sure I agree with MyAir's metrics and their respective weights, but as a motivational tool, it is effective for many.
