Had to use three extension cords

Post by D.H. » Fri Jun 21, 2019 9:15 pm

This was in Romania. I had this issue nineteen years ago (in Ireland) and never again until now. Due to the prior event, I always packs three extension cord.

Don't run your XPAP from another country, if it's that noisy, buy a better one. Jim

I'm unclear on the point. Is the post intended as a heads-up to travellers that bed placement may not be in close proximity to electrical outlets?

What is the total length of the extension cords?

And, were the grounded? what gauge? What was the individual lengths of each one? is that critical to the calculation?

I keep a surge protector in my luggage. I think it is probably 12-16 feet. That has always been enough. For trips with my mom, who also uses a cpap and often sleeps in a chair;' I will carry an extra cord to make sure we can reach both even if across the room. No idea why anybody would need 3. If I have to, I can run 2 cpaps, a clock, and my laptop off the surger protector AND charge my phone and ipod touch.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

If I was to follow all the recommendations I have heard about travel with CPAP, I would need to bring, an extra mask, extra cables, extra hose, extra machine, gallon of distilled water and 3 extension cords....I'm staying home!

YES! Thanks for getting to the point.

I always pack three extension cords just in case. Instead of packing a single 18ft (5½ meter) cord, I prefer to pack three 6ft (1¾ meter) cords as it's rare that I would need all three or even two. This prevents the cord from being all over the place when only one is needed.

Get off your high horse! Traveling (especially internationally) is one of the biggest challenges to CPAP users. My point is merely to warn everybody when I encounter a situation that might present difficulties for others.
