CPAP machine hit or miss....?
CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Im a 35 y/o male and use a resmed machine. Ive had it about 10 months I think. I use it every day. If I dont, the next day is a nightmare.
Normally when using the machine, things are MOSTLY ok. By that I mean most days are fine but Ill have the occasional off-day or miss where I feel like I didnt get enough sleep, despite the machine saying I slept 8 hours with the mask on.
However, in the past 3 weeks, all of a sudden, everyday it seems Im getting a full nights sleep with the mask on, but I wake up with that WRECKED feeling. I dont know whats going on or what I can try. Should I try increasing the pressure? Right now Im at 4.2 or 4.6 I cant remember. Im getting so sick of this. Its just like every night is a gamble whether ir not im going to have a good day or not and Im so sick and tired of it.
Nothing else in my life has changed. I dont know if im waking up during the night or not. I always get up once to go to the bathroom about 4-6 hours in but its always been like that. Any suggestions?

Also to add; my ResMed “score” is always like 97+. I found there is no correlation between that score and the quality of my sleep. Please let me know if I can furnish any other details

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
welcome aboard! you've come to the right place. and the experts here (i'm NOT one!) will be able to help you get back on track. but first, could you please read the following?
viewtopic/t172378/Sticky--Newbies-PLEAS ... STING.html
what would help everyone is to get more info from you. we are each of us unique in how we respond to cpap therapy. so the experts need details about you so that they can give you advice that is tailor made to you.
help them help you, please, by following the directions in the post i linked.
this is only a guess, but i would think your minimum pressure is too low and needs to be raised to at least 6 or 7. but without the data, that's only a guess.
good luck!

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
There are 4 different AirSense 10 model machines
AirSense 10 CPAP
AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
which one do you have? Don't look at the manual....look on the lower right hand face of the machine for full model name.

Please put that in your profile equipment list. https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=ucp_ ... pment_info
It's 'ResMed Airsense 10 autoset' in the list.

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
ok, then one of your next steps, after filling in your equipment profile, is to download the sleepyhead software and start posting some charts.
good luck!

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
I downloaded and setup Sleepyhead but I noticed now that my machine has no SD card. I tried to see if I can get my data through ResMed/MyAir but there doesn't appear to be any tangible data file that I can download to import into the software.
Does anyone know of a way to grab my past data for import or is it just 'gone' for the purposes of using Sleepyhead since i didn't have an SD? I thought that it would be somewhere since the machine wirelessly uploads to the ResMed site. It also says in the manual that the data is sent to my care provider, and I assume there's more detailed information than what is displayed on the MyAir site but I don't know. My care provider I doubt has received anything since we never set anything up.
I bought an SD card just now and put it in the machine so I'll have that going forward

There is no past data, it's just gone if there's no SD card.

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
I just read through the manual again. Looks like I'm SOL. That's too bad there was 6 months of data there that I was really interested in seeing. Oh well
Good news is I turned my pressure up to 6 and slept well last night so hopefully tonight will be alright too

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
You can see some summary data, but sleepyhead gets summary only data wrong... The new Oscar will hopefully fix that.cook675 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:47 pmI just read through the manual again. You can try running whatever the machine writes onto the SD card through ResScan.

Re: CPAP machine hit or miss....?
Ok last night was another bad night. I tried going to sleep at 10PM only to wake up at 11PM and tried to fall asleep but could not. You can notice I took a couple breaks and did some reading then went back to it. I want to add this is normally not ever a problem for me. I usually have no problems whatsoever falling asleep. I'm not are what happened last night, its like no matter what position I was in I was uncomfortable. Finally around 2:30 or so I took 1/4 a melatonin pill which I hate to do but I was frustrated. I think I fell asleep actually somewhere around 3AM.
I remember waking up a couple times and turning from my left side to my right side or vice versa. As an additional note, I sleep on my side, if I sleep on my back its on accident. I've had a couple pilonidal cyst surgeries in the past and ever since its been uncomfortable for me to lie directly flat on my back (although I used to sleep exclusively on my back)
Today I woke up at 10AM with an alarm because I had an obligation at 11. I assume I would've slept a little longer. But I feel like total garbage today. I feel like maybe I got 60% full, deep sleep. Today Im very agitated, angry, loud noises are bothersome, unmotivated, impatient and overall in a bad mood.
Also I set my machine to 6.2 but before the last attempt at sleep I changed it to 5.8; I thought maybe for some reason the high pressure was the reason I couldn't fall asleep. Also, I have my machine set to *auto* but it looks like the pressure ramps from 4 to 5.8 over 2 minutes, where I thought it was supposed to detect when you fall asleep and then start ramping it up.
This is my first graph so please let me know it everything was posted correctly or what I can do to make it easier to read, and any thoughts of course are appreciated.
Thanks!

maybe i've missed this, but is there a reason why you are set at a fixed pressure?cook675 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 5:41 pm
