Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
Hey everybody!
I may not have clarified this about myself, so, I’ll do so now. I’m from Argentina, and if you haven’t heard from it, then you are lucky. Needless to say acquiring cpap related products, and even the cpap itself was a nightmare.
So fast forward to today. I came to the USA on business, and want to buy a pulse oximeter that would be compatible with sleepyhead. I know the home page of sleepyhead gives this information however I did not bring my personal computer, just the office one, so I have no idea which pulse oximeter to buy, and take home. I’m returning home in 4 days, so please please please, somebody help me with which oximeters I could buy, I’ll order them on Prime and have them in 48hs here! Otherwise I will need to wait for my next trip (somewhere around June, to get one).
Thank you sooook much!!!!!

The most economical oximeters are the CMS50 line, I recommend the CMS50F which you can get from Amazon, or ebay, or ... other places I'm sure. I have the CMS50I, which you can get from ebay, or aliexpress direct from china.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
I am having a terrible time finding a feature description for this pulse ox. My old CMD pulse ox died and I would like another. These are the features I'd like:
- Overnight recording
- Has an alarm I can set for SpO2 (backup for power outages if my battery runs out of charge)
- Runs off batteries like AAA (not rechargeable lithium ion) so I can replace batteries during an extended power outage

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
No, the only CMS50 oximeter that has batteries is the CMS50D+ and it positively eats AAA batteries... about 24 hours of use per set (3 nights, ish).Muse-Inc wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 4:41 amI am having a terrible time finding a feature description for this pulse ox. Does the CMD 50I have these 3 features? Thanks!

The I has multiple night recordings. but does have a lithium cell in it, the main difference in the F and I is that the I does perfusion recordings and multiple sessions.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
Thanks! Is this a replaceable battery? If I can replace it (fingers crossed it's replaceable), then I could get a second battery and keep it charged just in case we have an extended power outage (typically just a few hours) and my GoalZero Escape battery ran out of power. While I'd have events with resultant fragmented sleep (from alarm waking me up), I would not have the huge risks associated with desats.
Thanks again!

Well, in that it's a fairly standard lithium postage stamp cell, that plugs into the board (iirc) you could replace it with a tiny philips screwdriver.Muse-Inc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:14 amThanks! However, I think it'd be much more practical to just keep a usb power bank somewhere handy, and recharge the unit every few days during an extended power outage.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
There is a link below to my recent post about my--I will say good--experience with my first and now my second Contec CMS50I, a wrist worn recording Oximeter. Neither have user-replaceable batteries (so far a I know now), probably because there are a number of other electronic components that are attached to the battery at multiple points, as I recall from opening the case; the battery is unlike the simple ones with one or two wires going to the unit's main circuit board.
The local chain store of a large specialty battery company searched for and could not find a replacement in its references and catalogues.
My first unit's batteries did fail after about 2 years, but it was (over?) charged most every day as part of my monitoring habit and I don't think I ever completely discharged it. My guess is that the unit would record up to 3, possibly 4, nights of sleep on a full charge if the illumination setting was low, sound were turned off and the unit did not sit idle unnecessarily while switched on.
I eventually learned it is best for me, with average finger size, (a 175 pound 23BMI male) to tape the finger boot in place on the middle digit to prevent uncertainties about false vs real SpO2 drops caused by slippage, mostly upon returning from mid-sleep trip to pee.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
I came to this forum to get help with the CMS50D+ that I just received a couple days ago. I'm having a hard time figuring the way to get the data into Sleepyhead 1.1.0. It is supposed to be compatible but I can't recommend that oxymeter.
Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
You do have to use the cable that came with it. It looks like a USB cable, but it's not, it's got active interface electronics in it.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
you don't download o2 data into sleepyhead. you have to use the spo2 program that came with the meter to download the data to the computer, then import it sleepyhead from the created spo2 folder that was created.

Re: Need help Pulse Oximeter ASAP!
I have a strange Windows problem. I can connect the device to the computer via the cable and I've been successful a few times in getting data into the default folder at:
c:\program file (x86)\SpO2 Assistant V3.0.4\Data
I see it writing three files - a .csv, .txt and .SpO2
I see those files only if I am looking at that folder through the Open window in SpO2 Assistant program. I do not see those files when I look for them in that folder in Windows or in Sleepyhead. I would think that this must be a simple issue of being confused about their real location or that I have some windows hide extensions issue. But it doesn't appear to be the case.
Here's a little video showing the problem. My apologies: The audio seems to be recorded a little low and you might have to turn up the audio volume. !!!!!! Don't forget to turn down the volume afterwards !!!!
