Smart card vacation

Post by Hurricane » Thu Feb 08, 2007 9:01 am

Well smart card is back and rested after its two day absence, and data flowing smoothly once again to Encore, weird why those voids happen every so often.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I really didn't mean to poke fun at a VERY FRUSTRATING situation. BUT ... those words just flowed off the tip of my finners before I could stop them. I hope your guys get the answers you need.

Slinky,
Not a big problem, just posting it so someone having the problem of missing data doesn't panic and think something is seriously wrong with their equipment.

I think it's a clear cut case of discrimination, "Classic" Tank's have to work 7 days a week, and "M"agics get two days off to rest up. Jim

It's not fair, having to work correctly.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, GoofProof. I sure hope the "classics" don't decide to call for a strike vote! Or call in the NCLU.

I recommend that everyone complain to their DME about this. The more we let them know their is a problem the better chance they will look into it. Be sure to let them know thats its not a fault with your machine, its a product problem. I talked to my DME about it today and they promised to bring it up with Resperonics.

I've posted about this problem before. I spent hours working on this issue, including buying a new Smart Card. I have finally determined the problem that I am experiencing with missing data is neither the Smart Card nor my CPAP Unit. Instead, it is somehow a problem with the software. I now download my data only once each week. Before each download, I reinstall (actually, overinstall) the software. Since I have begun this process, I have had NO missing data. I've even replicated this on a second computer.

It's a pain to reinstall, but it only takes about 5 minutes.

Smart Card

Hi John

If it is a software problem why does it only occur on the M series machine?

I can only comment that I have solved my problem, and it is very clearly a software issue for me. It may be that there are multiple gremlins causing this problem, and that the source of the problem varies for some of us.

This long weekend thing...

Post by t-bone » Thu Feb 08, 2007 9:11 pm

...is why I did the poll last month. Some machines apparently like to take their weekends in the middle of the week.

Maybe it's time to redo the poll, so that everyone can respond. We can take the numbers to our respective DME suppliers, and hopefully make enough noise that the problem will be fixed.

Tom, being a squeaky wheel...

Encore Software Question?

Post by felineperson3 » Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:32 pm

I still do a daily smart card download and erase of data and I have McAfee virus and firewall protection and usually about once a week I have to re-install my Encore software after an automatic firewall update. It doesn't occur with every update, but apparently certain ones change something in the registry which I am not smart enough to know how to over-ride whatever is happening in the registry so rather than getting frustrated with the computer and not knowing how to resolve that problem I find it easier to just re-install my software. It certainly is a nuisance type thing, but fortunately the software does re-install quickly.
I'm not sure this post will be of help to anyone else with their Encore data problems, but I decided to share anyway as it might be of help to someone out there.

Vacation Time

Post by shippy » Fri Feb 09, 2007 6:44 am

My card took last weekend off then worked Monday night, then took Tuesday night off, decided to clean it up (erased it) Tuesday morning, it worked Wednesday night, last night had to go take a little bathroom trip at around 2.00 a.m. shut the machine down and unmasked myself. Came back and rehosed up and turned on my little cpap friend who complained by beeping constantly at me. Shut my little friend off and restarted with the same result. Pulled the card and reinserted it and my little buddy stopped complaining. Went back to sleep and woke up this morning and downloaded the card and it only had about 1 1/2 hours of data reporting on it for last night, I slept about six hours total last night. Think i was half asleep and pulled the card while it was running and wiped out most of last nights data.
