can too high of pressure prevent treatment?
can too high of pressure prevent treatment?
ive been on cpap for about 3 weeks and ive had about 3 nights/days where ive felt alive like i havent in a long time.
ive been messing around with pressures all throughout and right now im at 16 low 20 high
im trying to remember where i was when i felt good and i think it was probably somewhere around 10
my question is just as my title states, can too high of pressure not solve apnea events?
if so, what is the mechanism behind this?
tonight im going to try pressure at 10 again to see if it helps

Re: can too high of pressure prevent treatment?
CPAP pressure stents the airway open against collapse of the upper airway anatomy. A listed complication is aerophagia ‘swallowing’ air into the stomach and caused by too high CPAP pressure.
The conspiracy of ignorance masquerades as common sense.

Gosh, where did you come up with that? Are you just dial wingin'? You need to be making changes rationally, not just throwing up darts on the board.
You reported feeling pretty good and sleeping better when your minimum was at 7.5. How and why did you get to minimum 16?
My suggestion is to go back to min 7.5/max 14.0. Then, the next day, post in this thread a chart and tell us how you felt. You need to be making changes with guidance from some experienced members here. Here is the thread where you seemed to be doing reasonably well -

i felt there was room for improvement and when i raised the pressure
i didnt see harm in it because more pressure would just hold the airway open better i thought
im not sure the reason why, but i remember hearing someone say more pressure could
make it so treatment doesnt work for people who need only a certain amount of pressure
i can lower the pressure for sure tonight to see how i feel
unfortunately i cant post my sleepyhead data because my new
sd adapter hasnt come yet but i can when it does

You're just like Gramps. He thinks if the recipe calls for two cloves of garlic, the whole bulb will be even better.
Are you sure you need an adapter? Most laptops and desktops have a little slot for SD cards. If you don't see it, here is another way to check - https://itstillworks.com/check-pc-sd-slot-8404707.html

Don't forget that this is the Internet. Even on this forum, there are 3 or 2 people who don't know what the hell they are talking about. It takes a lot of reading to learn which characters know, and which don't. Good luck. Earl

Re: can too high of pressure prevent treatment?
No, too high a pressure won't cause more *obstructive* events.
In a few people it can cause air swallowing/bloating, and in a few people it can cause central apneas.
But too much pressure isn't going to allow your airway to close up.
