CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
I am always on the look out for a great full face CPAP mask. My preference is a full face mask without a forehead brace.
My go to is the ResMed Quattro FX (Medium cushion size)

I have probably tried nearly every face-sucker in the aquarium, and the F20 comes pretty close to usable . . .
I have a small Fitlife, (total face mask) only worn about 20 minutes. Did not work--AT ALL! What a waste!

My current one is a Resmed F10. I don't like the forehead support either. I used a Amara View for 6 months and really liked it, but my AHI is lower with the Resmed, so I went back to it.

The one I started with.......ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face ( UMFF )......also in my profile.
Haven't found anything better (and I tried a few others after I started therapy).
All parts are replaceable so it's easy to repair if need be.

Mine is the Mirage Quattro. I tried and hated the F10. I used the Simplus for over 2 months and it worked only while using a liner. I cut up T shirts for this. I don't need a liner with the Mirage Quattro. I like the forehead brace. I do however use my Mirage Quattro along with the Simplus Headgear. It works perfectly.
Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
I tried the ComfortGel Blue, the Simplus, and settled on the ResMed F20. I like the magnetic closure of the F20, I originally thought that it was more of a gimmick than anything, but it's actually useful and very convenient to use.
I managed to get the leak rate down on the F20 while still maintaining comfort. I'm a side sleeper, have a full beard, and have next to no leak with the F20 (max according to SleepyHead is generally in the 5-7L/min range)

Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
I use the Zzz-Mask Full Face CPAP Mask by Probasics.
I like that it does not have the forehead support, and more then anything else I like the price. Compared the price to Resmed masks this mask is half price, and the replacement cushions are about half also. The mask works well for me, but every one is different. I have high pressure settings of 23/19, and so far this mask serves me well.
I wish you well...

I currently use the Amara View. I run fairly high pressure and have no problems with leaks. I have also tried the new Resmed F20 mask and really like it. I will probably switch to that mask in the future.

Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
I am currently trying the Quattro FX but find the venting to be very noisy, and although my leak rate has gone right down (compared to my nasal mask), the AHI had gone up! Maybe I need to persevere a little longer, I have a Mask Review appointment on Monday so will see what they offer me to try.Tballinusa wrote:I am always on the look out for a great full face CPAP mask. Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
When compared to a nasal mask a lot of people have found that they need more pressure when using a full face mask than they needed with a nasal mask to get the same sort of results.Hannibal 2 wrote:I am currently trying the Quattro FX..........the AHI had gone up!
In theory X amount of pressure should get the same results if everything else is the same but everything else isn't necessarily the same when you go to a full face mask. There's that lower strap that can tend to bring the jaw back a little and thus maybe change the airway position a little bit..maybe narrow the airway ever so slightly.
Now how much more? I don't know but from some of the reports I have seen from people who documented the change in pressure needs...sometimes as much as 2 or 3 cm more either fixed or if using apap the minimum.
I don't think your leaks with the nasal mask were of the magnitude to falsely lower your AHI by missing events. Your time in big leak wasn't that much. So I don't think we can blame the lower AHI with the nasal mask on big leaks.

Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
That has been on my mind and I have been gradually increasing the minimum pressure, but probably not by enough. I'll check my 95 per cent pressures over the past few nights and try to move the minimum closer the average.Pugsy wrote:When compared to a nasal mask a lot of people have found that they need more pressure when using a full face mask than they needed with a nasal mask to get the same sort of results.Hannibal 2 wrote:I am currently trying the Quattro FX..........the AHI had gone up!

Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
Facial size and shape are more important than the style of mask.
Many of us can only wear one or two masks at all;
because the masks of a given style are only made to fit a single face shape.
Masks only come in very few sizes, too; and faces come in many more.
Manufacturers "try" to create styles that fit a greater range of faces, but many fail.

Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
I like the Mirage Quattro as well. I make sure to put very little pressure on the forehead brace, however it is still useful to stabilize the mask against unwanted, leak-creating movement. The Simplus straps look nice, should spread the pressure over a wide area of the back of one's head.Jasba64 wrote:Mine is the Mirage Quattro. I tried and hated the F10. Re: CPAP Full Face Masks. What's your go to?
Sure would be nice if they offered us custom fitting. Although I hate to think what that would cost. In the long run it may prove to be less expensive since we wouldn't have to go through all the trial and error with several masks until we find the right one.chunkyfrog wrote: Manufacturers "try" to create styles that fit a greater range of faces, but many fail.
