ResMed F10 VS ResMed F20

Post by Tballinusa » Fri Dec 09, 2016 7:47 am

I just ordered the new ResMed F20. Can anyone shed a little light on the differences between it's predessor the ResMed F10 and the new F20? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I like the F20, the bottom straps connect to the mask with magnets.

it's been covered before, try searching, or look on youtube for reviews.

the forum search is useless for short strings like 'f20' so use google or other search engines by putting "site:cpaptalk.com" in the search query.

The F20 is relatively new and not many forum members are reporting back on it yet.
I think Wulfman has given you the link to the only report from an active forum member that I know of.

So far only 5 reviews at cpap.com

My nasal mask has been failing me due to chronic congestion so I've gravitated to my F10 recently. Looking forward to the F20 and hoping it's an improvement. I've just ordered one today and should be testing it out by next week - stay tuned ...

I had not even realized my F10 was a Medium. I went about sizing and ordering the F20 and wound up with a large. In hindsight I think I might have done better with the F10 in Large but the sizing guide put me at Medium. In case you are going from F10 to F20 the templates differ enough to possibly put you in the next size up - do print out the F20 template and size it.

I'll need a couple of nights to get the F20 dialed in.

The cushion on the f20 isn't as soft as on the f10. I can't get comfortable wearing it. Trying the Quattro FX next.

The sizing template failed me. It said I was a M so that's what I tried... top of mask sits on my tear ducts. The S fits pretty well and seals fairly easily. It feels really good until you sleep with it for a few hours and then that old familiar nose ache and deep red marks on both sides of the nose greet you in the morning. I've tried a remzzz liner and a pressure sore dressing (Allevyn-usually helps to protect my nose a lot). There isn't a PAC line for it yet. I don't have any other nose protecting tricks up my sleeve yet, and it really seems soft and properly fitting. I'm torn between buying a PAC liner for it when it's available, or just selling it. I'm not sure the PAC is going to provide enough protection... it's great on my Simplus but that also works with the Allevyn.

It's slightly noisier than the Simplus and I miss the ability to adjust the top of head strap (unless I just couldn't find it last night). I love the magnetic clasps!! I hope it works out... I don't get a tickle from airflow with it like I do with Simplus.

I have been using a Quattro (M) for 7 years. I recently tried the new F20 and have used the (M) for 2 nights. I am finding that it is narrower around the mouth than the Quattro. I plan to try a Large. The sizing template puts me between a M and L.

I found the sizing template for the F20 extremely useless. If I decide to try this mask, will probably start with the large since I needed a large when I tried the F10.

I read reports that people used a size bigger or a size smaller than their usual with this mask. For me, I used the same size as size as the F10 (which I also couldn't tolerate due to nose pain). This one seems to fit better in the nose until you actually sleep with it.

I wear a large in the F10. When trying on the F20, the medium seemed to be the correct size for me. After trying the medium F20 for several days, my bottom lip was falling beneath the the cushion, more and more often. Have since been using the F20 large with no issues.

Thanks Recipe and Cokomo for your responses and will keep what you said in mind if I decided to order the F20.

I've been working with the F20 off and on for about a week now and I'm not getting the results I had hoped for. Went from a Medium F10 to a Large F20 and although the size seems right the bridge of my nose has bigger and redder welts on top and down the sides - noticeably more than with the F10. I've tried a liner with it and I still can't seem to get a proper fit so unfortunately this will be going back and I'll try something different (again).
