Emergency for poor packer!

Post by nlt6mor » Tue Feb 16, 2016 6:06 pm

OK, so I left early this morning for a two night stay away from home. Got to work and my wife texts me that my humidifier tank was still sitting on her sink! Damn
So for this newer Resmed Airsense 10, what is my recourse. Can I still use it? I got tape and a cutting shear. The rewards sign up card in the hotel room is pretty heavy paper. Can I just cut it to shape and tape it to the open end of the machine? Anybody else forgetful and handy? Thanks for your suggestions.

Resmed makes a side cover, so you can use the machine without the humidifier. So I would think you can make your own.

Thanks, probably a little heavier than my cardboard sign up brochure, but I got little to use. I suppose I should turn off the humidifier for sure.

If you want to see a pic of it http://www.directhomemedical.com
It is Resmed part #37303 Side Cover for Resmed Airsense 10

the resmed 'no humidifier' cover has a tube to connect the in and out tubes in the humidifier opening, so it's more than just a cover over the big hole...

ask them down stairs if they've got an extra hose, and maybe that would fit the pipes in the opening?

you might be able to find a DME in the area that you could buy another tank from.

At 6:30 at night, I am afraid I am out of luck with finding DME up here. Are you suggesting a simple cover won't work? If I tape all around the edge tightly, the air can't go anywhere else by in one hole and out the other. The two holes are different sizes, so finding some modified radiator hose or some such thing might be tough!

One of the greatest thing in my five months with this machine is not waking up with a desert in my mouth in the morning. Even if the air works well, I am not looking forward to it. The humidifier was great!

I don't know how airtight the whole humidifier area itself is, there's no reason for them to make it airtight, so it may leak a lot back into the machine. it's worth a try though... best of luck.

Who is your DME? I know Lincare has an emergency 24 hr call center. My local office told me they would take care of an emergency equipment failure and deliver equipment to me at all hours.. I'd try calling around. Do you have a copy of your prescription?

What city are you in? Who knows, we might have a member close by with a spare part.

Just tried Handi my DME all numbers says they have closed at 5. Tried ResMed to see what they may suggest, also closed till next day. Saw new tanks for $30 bucks on line. If the rewards card brochure does not work I may pic a new tank up tomorrow. 30 bucks for being able to move my tonuge when I wake up is so worth it! I am in Burnsville MN for a couple of nights. McGuiver doesn't live around here! I know he could fix it. Thanks for your suggestions. I let you know how it goes! lol

A true challenge (sorry to say)... be sure to let us know how it goes... I for one want to know. You certainly won't be the last to have that problem. Get to work you Macgyver types

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I have a travel bag with machine hose mask and everything down to extra filters. I can just grab it and go. I don't take anything out of it at home so it is always ready. You need a backup machine for travel.

Good idea, someday I will have a travel backup. Probably a 12 volt machine. Right now I am soon to get my second mask! Baby steps for the newbie. At least I packed the distilled water for two days! Hate drinking it though. Thanks

1-800-227-9762 Lincare's 24 hour emergency #. They have offices all over and deliver. But I'm not sure if they need a prescription.

you DME may be closed, but if you check the phone book and call around, you may find one locally with after hours emergency support.

you don't even have to have a prescription to buy a new tank, or cover.
