Are you really ok? No left over stuff to deal with? No problems with Cpap in hospital? Can you still pee as well as before? Well, if we don't ask, who will?
Very glad you're back - we definitely need you, not to mention missed you.
Any idea how you 'caught' what got you?
Welcome back (to say the least!). Glad you're not ded!
(and to Lucyhere)
I'm starting to wish I couldn't pee as well, ever since the foley came out, I've been up every hour and a half to two hours and shuffling to the bathroom, first all week in the hospital, (and let me tell you, it was a process getting out of the airbed, trailing wires and IV pump) and now here at home.
on the other hand, it IS a great weight loss plan, nearly a pound of weight lost every two hours I'm still making around 400ml each time, and 500ml is about a pound... since 5pm (it's now 11) I've peed a liter and a half, ish kinda wishing they hadn't taken the foley out
my kidney function isn't back to normal, but the nephrologist says it could be a reaction to the IV antibiotics, and wants to wait a couple weeks to see if things get better now that I'm off of them. I'm producing a lot of fluid, but not filtering everything out of the blood like it should be.... but, again, IV antibiotics often irritate the kidneys, and I've been on one or another of them all month.
as to the cpap, I took the spare with me in the ambulance, and after suffering with a poorly vented, too low pressure abomination that they supplied in the ER, I croaked out "can I use my mask? please? PLEASE?" and they sent someone down to look at the machine, she set the spare up with mostly the right parameters after I told her how... and i went from the Alien face hugger fart machine to my P10... life was SO much better.... other than putting me back on the abomination (since it had batteries) to go from ER to ICU and then to ICU stepdown, (icu lite, or jv icu) I used mine... and other than one incident while moving rooms when a nurse tipped it forward to look in the top, (and I freaked) it sat on my bedside table and silently blew air for me...
my main problem was with the idiots that respiratory sent around to harass me... usually with a cheap fingertip oximeter, and wanting to wake me up a half hour after the nurse aide woke me up for vitals, which included SpO2 from a much more spendy unit.
the icing on the cake happened a few nights ago when one dipshit came in and wanted to know when I was going to put my mask on. (at the time, I was napping a few hours, awake a few hours, totally irregular)
me: "why do you want to know"
her: "so we can help you with your mask"
me: (waves p10) "I don't really need much help with this, and I've been using cpap for six years"
her: well, er, ok, I'll tell the others not to bother you".
2 hours later, some blonde
IN BRACES and zits comes in
her: "when are you going to sleep"
me: "why"
her: "so I can help you put on your mask"
me: (waves p10) "don't need help, and the person two hours ago was supposed to pass along not to bother me!"
her: "well, ah, er, but you might need help setting up your machine"
me: "ok, can you check to see if it needs water?"
her: "ok"
walks over and looks at the bedside table before tracing hoses and figuring out the silver thing was the cpap...
her: "where does the water go?"
me: "GET OUT"
well, actually, I said "just forget it, just bring me some water and I'll do it myself" ..... "are you sure?"
