Defective machine? :?:

Post by Vague_Existence » Fri Jul 17, 2015 4:27 am

Hello, I've actually just discovered this forum tonight while attempting to look up some assistance with my CPAP. It worked when I woke this "morning" (actually 2am, but not all that important to the issue) But when I plugged it in tonight, it wouldn't even turn on. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just defective...That's assuming it hasn't broken from wear and tear, given it's something I've gotten within a month. Anyway, any assistance would be appreciated.

I believe it is a Air-sense 10 Auto...something or other...if that helps at all.

Make sure there is power in the new outlet.

When you moved the machine, did you remove the water tank first?

No, Is that Important? I'd never really done it before.

If the machine was not perfectly level, water might have splashed up into the electronics.
Was there any sparking/smoke?

no sparking or smoke, and I actually Have left the humidifier empty since it seems like if it had the smallest amount of water I would be drowned in it in my sleep.

If you have confirmed power at the outlet and made sure the DC adapter is securely plugged in at the outlet and to the adapter brick, then you may have a bad DC adapter. If you are not proficient with a multimeter, then any electronics or hobby store, and of course your DME can probably check the adapter to see if it is producing the required 24 volts of power. If it is not producing DC current, then you want to get a replacement ASAP. The adapter is more suspect than the machine, but if the adapter tests okay, then you need to move onto the machine.

After reading this whole thread, I'd recommend taking it to the DME you got it from, explain your problem and see if it works there. (be sure to empty the water chamber before moving it anywhere)

It looks that way due to how the tubes inside the humidifier is routed but as long as you don't over fill it by going past the max fill line you are in no danger.

Why do you feel you'd drown in your sleep using the humidifier? Did you have the machine seated at a higher level than your head and therefore get some water in your mask?
