How Fat Are You?
What an interesting thread!
Well, I am 5'5" and weighed in yesterday at 307 pounds on a scale that is about 5 pounds off. Either way, I am over the big 300 now and hope that I can get this CPAP to work for me. My hope is that it will get my metabolism to kick in a bit so that if I do a diet change for the umpteenth time I might lose more easily.

To sleep, perchance to dream
I am 5"9' 41 years old and weigh 220 pounds, five pounds less than when I started cpap 6 months ago.
I would like to get to 195.
I went to a website that told how much you should weigh for your height and it said I should weigh 173 I guess were all supposed to be just skin and bones.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!
I think it depends on where the skin and bones are -- my hubby is 5'9" and weighs 165 lbs, but he's my hunk with nothing but muscle.tooly125 wrote:I went to a website that told how much you should weigh for your height and it said I should weigh 173 I guess were all supposed to be just skin and bones.
And he's saddled with me: 5'3" and 145 lbs (but most of that is on my double chins and double waist).

There is NO way I could get down to the weights on those charts. I'm pretty muscular/husky/big-boned/whatever. Even when I was "skinny" in high school, I was more than what those charts say.tooly125 wrote: I went to a website that told how much you should weigh for your height and it said I should weigh 173 I guess were all supposed to be just skin and bones.

I agree and I try. I'm going to be soooo embarrassed when I weight more than he does. Can we all say the nursery rhyme, "Jack Sprat"?tooly125 wrote:Then according to that web site he's underweight!!Linda3032 wrote:I think it depends on where the skin and bones are -- my hubby is 5'9" and weighs 165 lbs, but he's my hunk with nothing but muscle.tooly125 wrote:I went to a website that told how much you should weigh for your height and it said I should weigh 173 I guess were all supposed to be just skin and bones.

How fat am I?
64 and counting
5' 8" or thereabouts
191 lbs -- 30 or so around the middle
At one time I hit 201 and got type 2 diabetes. I was down to 182 before CPAP and GAINED 11 pounds in 2 weeks after starting CPAP with no change in diet or exercise.
With CPAP I feel much better and < miraculously > my sugar count is normal again. Have stopped taking diabetes meds and blood tests still showing good!
Hopefully, over time, I will get some of those extra pounds off. I was hoping CPAP would help take off some of that 182 but it went the other way. DRAT.
In my prime I was 5' 9" and 154. Retirement put a lot of pounds on. I used to be on my feet all day and when I started sitting .. welll.
Am awaiting arrival of a new computer desk I ordered that goes up and down electrically so I can stand at the computer instead of sitting. Read somewhere that you burn 40% more calories standing than sitting.

big... really big
I ama 56 year old man, 6'3'', weighing 375 lbs. I do think I had some apnea issues years ago when I only weighed 275. Probably not when I got out of high school at 175.
That 10 pounds per year kind of creeps up on you.
