Dylan and Clapton don't count - poetic (and musical) license!

And what's wrong with a queen (on our money)?

So, when the queen sheds this mortal coil, will the bills need to be made wider to make room for Chuck's kingly ears?

Oh, you are a Southerner. Not too many years ago I flew into Birmingham in January and it was a tiny bit cold. A Southern gentleman picked me up at the airport and we started on a two-hour drive.

He told me he had the car heater running so that I would not get cold, but asked that I should tell him if it was too warm and he would cut it off. That was fine.

A while later I asked him if he thought it was getting warm in the car. He said, "Yes, I will cut the heater off."

Then the pleasant gentleman added, "If you get too cool, let me know and I will cut the heater on."

Now I understand "cutting off the heater", but how do you in the South "cut it on".
As a matter of verbal economy, we often feel that if a given phrase works in the declarative, then it must also work in the inverse.

We can understand each other just fine. But when watching "The Sopranos" I often had to cut on closed captioning.

I've always wondered about the Bob Dylan song "Lay Lady Lay". I've had a suspicion (and apparently many others have, too) that it was written about a dog......and not a woman. But, I've never been able to find any definitive proof about it being about a dog (or a woman for that matter).

It was an adaption of a 1930s blues song composed by an egg farmer.

Is all of this constipated, or anal retentive?

Probably related to "I want to get laid".

I used to be a great speller but being on psych meds absolutely ruined that. Fortunately, spell checker catches most of my errors but sometimes I spell a word that isn't even recognized by it and I have to keep revising it to get the right spelling.

Additionally, because of my sleep issues, I have noticed that many times (although not always) that I have written some very bizarre spellings of words or something that doesn't make any sense when I reread it. I try again to catch things but it seems I do miss stuff.

Regarding proofreading, many times, I can reread something several times and still miss something. Then later, when I see the post again, I notice the errors. But it may be too late to edit it.

Anyway, I am very grateful that no one has commented on my posts when there have been errors. It is a great source of frustration to me but that is the way it is.

How strange - it's something I would usually notice, and if it were constant I'd remember it too, but I've never been aware of your ever misspelling, so I wonder if you haven't been too hard on yourself or possibly even imagined things wrong (when they weren't to begin with).

No, I am not imagining things as I wish I were. But I appreciate your post and yeah, probably I do worry too much about it.

I am dyslexic and if I am tired it gets worse and proof reading doesn't help because it all looks right.
Software like Visual Studio increased my initial coding quality because interchanging 2 letters in a variable name was immediately visible.

I can spell fairly well, and endeavor to use good grammar, but my keyboard gets in the way *smile*. If my thoughts could go directly from my head to the computer without going through my fingers, my posts would be a lot more readable *smile*.

So it goes.

Are you having a laugh? Really? Do you have nothing more important to say other than nit picking about a spelling error!

Yes, if you're trying to convey one concept or meaning but instead convey an entirely different one!
