OT The Interview

Post by AlabamaAl » Fri Dec 26, 2014 6:23 am

It seems strange to me that there is such hype about a movie with one of the dumbest story lines that I have heard to date. All this because the North Koreans supposedly hacked Sony. It is all over the news, showing people in line to view this film, making statements like " The North Koreans aren't going to tell me what to watch!" Guess what, they did and you are.

Would anyone have spent their hard earned money on this piece of crap film if it hadn't been hacked? I think Sony hacked itself.

I would rather strap on my cpap mask, and dream of grass growing....

Rant over..

Actually, before the hype even started, I wanted to see it. Don't ask me why but for some reason, this movie appealed to me even though in some ways, it looks stupid as heck. I even thought I could get through it without falling asleep which has prevented me from going to movie theaters to watch any other films.

LOL at your comment about Sony hacking itself.

Several of my friends and I were talking about seeing it before all the hype. Once in awhile you just have to sit back and enjoy some dumb humor. We know it's stupid. That's what we want, once in awhile, though. I remember saying when all of the hype started that it it was ever released, it would be one of the most viewed movies ever. I wouldn't be surprised if it was extreme marketing.

TL and TG, thank you, you hit the nail on the head as to why I want to see this movie. Due to dealing with various stresses, I need some "dumb humor" for relief.

Sony certainly has the resources for this to have been an elaborate publicity stunt.
Would they have done it or not? Could they do it and not get caught?
This story may be more interesting than the film itself.
Plenty of other films to see. I recommend "Interstellar".

I watched it, I would not had it not caused the hupla it did. It's almost a gotal waste of time. The first 25 minutes are scraped off the cutting room floor, by someone that into heavy profanity, after that assault, it just goes into mindless dribble, a no action, no point waste of time. Taking your kid to it would be considered child abuse in the first degree.

I rate it as the second worse movie I've seen, first being Darkstar a SF. Sony's release in this way was probably the best way to market it, seeing as it wouldn't run on eight track. I archive media, for this I hit delete. They picked a time when T.V. was dead for the holidays, it filled the dead air, however poorly.

Watch it if you want, a few more dead brain cells won't matter, we have spares. Jim

Well, I saw it and really enjoyed it. I did not expect to enjoy it, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing out loud several times. Is it dumb? Yes, but underneath some of the dumb fart jokes there were some wicked sharp ones, too. Does it have profanity? Yes, so if that bothers you, don't see this. Does it have puerile offensive body parts jokes? Yes, so if those bother you, don't see this. Also, don't bring your kids to see this as all of the humor in it is "adult".

It's been a long time since I've seen a silly movie that made me laugh. If it took the North Korean government to get me to see it, well, I guess the joke's on them, because the movie is doing well, and plenty of people are finding it funny.

I wouldn't have seen it before the hoopla and absolutely not after the manipulation that no doubt was set by Sony. I hate being tricked.

I think I'll watch the Three Stooge's classic, "You Nazty Spy".

Thanks for the review grapeshly and am glad you enjoyed it. It sounds exactly like the type of movie I need to see.

As fans of Seth's work, the movie was everything we expected...and more. We laughed out loud plenty, and had to stop the movie a few times to hear what we missed. (Yeah, movie streaming on Youtube!)

Two thumbs up
