Can we please stop this? I authored the copyright policy for my college campus, and follow the arguments closely in the literature. The fact is, the current US copyright legislation is seriously screwed up, by almost any measure, and quite definitely biased in favor of copyright owners. But who cares? That is not what this forum is supposed to be about. Guest, please take it elsewhere. We get the message.

See, the thing is that we all heard you the first time. Not too many folks here are stupid regardless of what your patronizing attitude reflects.

Now we decide whether to pay attention to what you said or not. Your constant repetition, flagellation and pious attitude isn't going to change anything here. People already know where they stand - for, against or indifferent. You haven't hear my opinion about right, wrong or indifferent and you won't - this isn't the place and publicly dressing someone down isn't the method. If you were a registered member of the forum you could address your concerns with cpapjack more appropriately via a PM but then you wouldn't get to make a lot of public self-righteous noise.

You could sort of in the boat of the guy who might be right all the time but still gets his butt kicked and everybody is thrilled when it happens.

cpapjack gets to decide whether to ask and each of us gets to decide whether to go to his aid or not, legal or not, and then bear the responsibility for our actions.

So, again, either register, let us get to know you or just be quiet - please.

Oops. That comment about copyright legislation was from me; I forgot to sign in! Now even I'm annoyed.

Snoozin Blues, I acutually agree with most of what you said. I think if cpapjack would have said, "maybe I should think about this and come to a decision about it. I know it may not be the best thing to do but I don't have another choice" I would have just let it drop. But the guy was just bashing me for pointing out the current legal stand on this. Once in an argument, I wont stop until I've been out argued with logical statements. Never got that. I don't care what cpapjack does or does not do. I thougth it was wrong to come on the board and ask someone to help him pirate software.

Thunder,

I'd give you a copy if I had it. I'd give you a copy even if it wasn't the free version.

Software Piracy

Post by birdshell » Thu Jul 20, 2006 7:22 pm

Here's a somewhat related question:

If one bought the software, and it was somehow ruined and out of the warranty period--

is it then illegal to "borrow" another purchaser's copy of the same software?

technically i would say yes, but i could be wrong, maybe if you still had proof that you purchased the first copy that got ruined, but who knows?

There is no warrenty period, they state up front, they do not support the program, and that it's not for the patient. Just the people they are in bed with, the DME and Dr.s.

It would be illegal to borrow another persons software, unless he removed it from all his computers and ceased using it. If you did (get) a copy of the same version that you had bought, that had went bad could you use it. As long as you had the orgional, as their is no serial # in in the software, just the version number. Who's going to check, the MP3 Police, and I used to worry about the FCC.

I guess most of us are character flawed. Dang, why do we have to be like that.
