IS IT REALLY NEW
IS IT REALLY NEW
I suspect my new CPAP Resmed s9 is not really new, possibly preowned, but sold as new.
Does anyone know how I can confirm this. I have a dishonest supplier. Billed my insurance twice, once for mask kit and again on the same invoice for the individual components. Also kept two of the nose pillows, kit has s,m,l. Only gave me one. They did this twice. I ordered another mask this one containing xs,s,m. They kept xs and m. They cut open the plastic and resealed it to make it look like it was not tampered with.
They rent cpaps and now I wonder if my S9 is new or not.
How can I find "blower hours"? Is that the same as run hours. And how do I know if my software version is current.

hold down both silver buttons till the display changes, then use the knob to scroll down to the wrench, look at the hours shown.

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
Most of the time, insurance requires CPAP machines to be a monthly rental for a few months. You are not entitled to a new machine when you're renting it.

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
This was a purchase, not a rental. Even if it was a rental, its a rent to buy. And still should be new.
Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
Thank you for your reply, I believe the wrench tells me my run hours, the Resmed rep, told me there is another measurement of hours, called service hours which represents the blower hours in total and the hours appear in red. Those can not be reset and would tell me if there is a discrepancy. I have gone into the clinician mode but can not find the area that tells me blower hours and current software being used.palerider wrote:hold down both silver buttons till the display changes, then use the knob to scroll down to the wrench, look at the hours shown.
Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
that's all there is, you can't reset run hours.... if you get something outta your resmed rep that's different, please share it with us.Sly1234 wrote:Thank you for your reply, I believe the wrench tells me my run hours, the Resmed rep, told me there is another measurement of hours, called service hours which represents the blower hours in total and the hours appear in red. "Used Hrs" in the Sleep Report section can be reset, not "Run Hrs" shown above.STL Mark wrote:I got in a new S9 Autoset this week fresh from ResMed. SX474-1201 is the current level. Prior to this what I would see is SX474-0907.

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
Just a reminder, the run hours will be a little higher than the used hours as the blower continues to run at a low setting after you shut of the therapy to help dry out the machine and components, so the run hours will tend to be slightly higher.

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
The S9 "Used hours" is part of the daily, weekly, monthly, 3 month, or 1 year data. It can be reset.
Apparently, "Run hours" can't be reset. At least doing an "erase data" function didn't reset it.
I couldn't find a "service" hours. Maybe there's some ubersecret menu or software that will show this.
Maybe the person you were talking to was thinking about Respironics PRS1 machines. PRS1 machines have "Therapy, Blower, and Machine" hours. Therapy is average hours. Blower and Machine are lifetime totals. Blower can be reset, machine can't.

In case you didn't catch it, software (SW) version SX474-1201 was the most current known at the time of this posting, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=97732&p=908990#p908990 , of May 22, 2014.Sly1234 wrote:And how do I know if my software version is current.

Just added to that post tonight, my new machine came with SX474-1203 but it is a bilevel. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
looks like under service, run hours are 96, software is SX474-0907
Used hours are 94.4
I am not certain if run hours=blower hours, but I will call again.
Resmed said from my serial number, they can only tell me when and to whom it was shipped
It's probably fine but with all the other improprieties, I started to doubt the S9 Status.
Does anyone have the S10?
Thanks for all your replies

Re: IS IT REALLY NEW
I have seen discussions regarding the resetting of both 'used hours' and 'motor/total hours' being reset and have never seen an answer to resetting total hours on the motor. The resetting of 'used hours' is fairly straightforward and generally part of the clinician menu. While one can view the other (total hours/motor hours/etc.) nobody has come up with the process to reset this and I suspect that it is for exactly the reason that you mention and that I, too, have experienced, but not quite to the same extent. I bought what was supposed to be a brand new S9 Auto from a large dealer online some years ago shortly after they came out. I actually bought TWO of them. One as a backup as they were pretty inexpensive at the time. The first one had a faint plastic odour while the second one, although it pretty much looked pristine, did NOT have that plastic "new equipment" smell but rather a very mild "perfume" smell. I investigated to see if the motor hours reading could be reset and have always kept my eye open for that.... but have never seen a means of doing a total reset INCLUDING reset of the motor hours. My curiousity will have the better of me until I see someone post that process and try it out myself. As a computer guy with a computer guy for a #1 son (taking Computer Software Engineering at University) we both believe that if it can be written to and read, there is likely a means of changing the data or resetting it... the question is the process.

perfumey smell comes from some silicone.torontoCPAPguy wrote: The first one had a faint plastic odour while the second one, although it pretty much looked pristine, did NOT have that plastic "new equipment" smell but rather a very mild "perfume" smell.
