Diagnosed and initiated xpap therapy at age 57 (7 yrs ago).

LPN at pulmonologist's office told me what I suspected, that (due to airway architecture) I have had osa since childhood.

(Just completed my 6th half marathon race since diagnosis, btw).

35. Funny how another poster mentioned snoring after having kids. My husband never mentioned anything about me snoring before I had my kids. I seem to have gotten worse since I had my youngest 3 years ago. I even started having occasional dreams of suffocating that would startle me awake in the last few years. My husband was tested and started his CPAP about 1 1/2 years ago and he told me he thought I should get tested too. Been using my ASV for just under a week now.

I think I had problems with sleep my whole life. But when I was going through menopause, it got horrible. Started on Cpap around age 57. I'm 64 now.

Officially diagnosed with "mild UARS" without OSA in 1995, age 29, with a PES, -20. They didn't know much about treating UARS in 1995, and not sure they know much more about UARS today. Have had mild OSA diagnosis since 2003 (the next sleep study following the 1995 UARS diagnosis). OSA/UARS has not significantly improved with CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP & surgeries.

Couldn't tell you before that, between the OSA and the other stuff I think a squirrel has a better memory sometimes I would wake up having rolled out the bed nightly for quite some time though before my parents got me a queen sized bed in junior year of HS...anyone else have real active sleep like that pre-CPAP?
I had very, very active sleep before CPAP. Unless I was in my waterbed, I kicked my way out of bed usually straight out the foot of the bed. I also sleep walked & sleep ate too. The kicking & sleepwalking were life long problems. The sleep eating developed after my accident. I was diagnosed with severe OSA/CSA, RLS, PLMD, alpha-wave intrusion disorder & narcolepsy.

I was age 57 when I was diagnosed and now approaching 84. In retrospect, I realize that I had the problem for a long, long time previous to diagnosis. Luckily, I didn't have much if any lasting damage to my body before being fitted for my first (Now antique) Healthdyne machine. I remain grateful to Dr. Devin Zimmerman for his insight and treatment back in the very infancy of CPAP treatment.

Sleep apnea is often worsened or brought on by pregnancy. It's the weight gain and hormonal change.

I guess from the answers you now understand onset and diagnosis are two different subjects? The medical profession has been, and still is to a great degree, horribly negligent in diagnosing sleep disorders.

I suspect I have had apnea for 15+ years but never connected the dots until I was diagnosed at age 54.
