Since you are allergic to coconut, maybe you can answer a couple questions. Is there is a difference in your allergic reaction to coconut between if it is cooked or not cooked? My grandson has some nut allergies and I've started cooking some with coconut oil but was afraid to try it on him. Also, does a person allergic to ingested coconut also react to using it topically?

HMM, lets ask Monsanto what they have to say about GMO corn and Roundup resistant plants. I bet they say everything is fine and they don't think that there is any problem with the changes that have been made. I avoid corn oil and corn syrup like the plague. The bad thing is don't believe all the "organic" hype either. We're screwed!

Putting on my mask now and going to sleep.....Zzzzzzzz

Have to agree completely! Additionally canola oil is Just as bad as corn oil. It is actually poisonous to humans so has been genetically modified to be useable. I am not sure how the organic canola is processed to safety so I don't use it. Avocado oil(organic) handles very High temps so I use it for frying. Peanut oil works but family allergies keep that out of our house. Olive oil for everything else.

For high temperature cooking, try Avocado oil. Very high oxidization temperatures - one of the highest at 520 degrees. I also use it when I do not want the taste of olive oil interfering with the food...i.e. home made mayonnaise etc. Also very healthy oil. It used to be hard to find, but now available everywhere...Costco here has it.

Coconut oil was my main go-to, but now I use it primarily for curries, coconut shrimp, fish frying etc...again...mainly a "taste" preference.

EVOO, Avocado, coconut and Ghee (love the taste of ghee with BBQ grilling) are the mains here....won't touch corn, canola etc.

At least certified organic means no GMO's or pesticides, and for meat, no antibiotics.

I just found a very old bottle with about an inch of canola oil.
I haven't used the stuff for ages.
I think I'll set it next to the snow shovel.

Sorry for not answering sooner Kathy ....... Same reaction, itchy mouth & throat, the only thing I have not tried is using it topically..... too afraid to try .
In my book a nut is a nut, I stay away from it all. My granddaughter is also allergic, but she can take occasional SMALL amounts of nuts, and her reaction is stomach related not mouth and throat. Funny how some allergies react differently to some people, I used to be allergic to bananas, but can now have one.... once in awhile... who knew.
Cheers

Are you sure coconut is actually a nut? Peanuts are not nuts... they're legumes, but very few people know that I think.

Coconuts grow on trees but peanuts are grown in the ground, therefore they are a legume. (We are allergic to peanuts too, that allergy is WORSE.)

Coconuts are tree nuts, but people who may have problems with tree nuts often do not have problems with coconuts.
