Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
I think you need to see a neurologist... the staring stuff can be serious (certain seizures manifest like those) and are not related to OSA.

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
It is unusual for a 24 year old to have low T, unless they have experimented with anabolic steroids in their past (illegally, for bodybuilding or sports). I have heard of many young guys who experience "rebound low T" after they discontinue black market illegal anabolic steroids they acquired in a gym or from a high school or college buddy.
Again, you have not mentioned if your diagnosis of hypogonadism is primary or secondary. That is fundamental and basic and getting that nailed down is something an MD diagnosing you with low T is supposed to have already done. Which one? Primary hypogonadism or secondary hypogonadism? And not what YOU think it is, what your DOCTOR(s) think it is!

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
You need to find out whether its primary or secondary. If your doctor does not seem interested in knowing which, I'd quickly find another potential TRT doctor. They determine primary from secondary by running other hormone tests on you, if I remember correctly it is either your FS or FSH. Its been awhile since I had mine done.
Im diagnosed as having the secondary form of hypogonadism. Mine is very severe, very low T. I can barely get an erection and have almost no sex drive and have been that way since my late twenties, it started about two months after a hydrocelectomy repair operation. Yet the doctors refuse to acknowledge that surgery had anything to do with it, but thats expected they are trained by medical malpractice insurance defense attorneys to "deny, deny, deny."
Keep in mind TRT is very lucrative for the drug companies right now and they probably pay kickbacks to physicians who prescribe TRTherapies. So there is a lot of money to be made in all the transdermal TRT gels for both companies and for some doctors and labs.
That being said, if you are truly low T and only 24, you should probably be on a TRT of some kind. Thats awfully young though to be low T. You ever messed around with anabolics in high school or college? Just a bodybuilding cycle or two, maybe?

Thank you for trying to help me out.
I have never messed with anabolic steroids at any age. i was pretty active with woking out ect in high school but nothing moe then a potein shake,.
I guess i will go back to the doctor and ask if its primary or secondary, and see him testing me, then i will get results and maybe he will prescribe me a gel or lotion. i hope that is not very expensive as i don't have much money and im self pay (no insurance coverage)
Please help if there are other things i need to ask the doctor about this.
Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
The montly cost of Androgel can be between $200-250 (ballpark). Testim might be a bit cheaper.
If you have access to a compounding pharmacy the cost could be much less; an unverified report I have seen online claimed to pay $115 for a 3 month supply of testosterone cream through a compounding pharmacy.
Out of pocket is a bad position to be in for a drug like synthetic testosterone.

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
I am 50 and been taking testosterone via injections from a compounding pharmacy mix. Due to other factors I have a blood draw every 2 to 4 weeks. My testosterone level stays right at the bottom of normal range. That with even a relative high dose. The low t had now effects on my libido nor has replacement therapy raised it at all. That part was never an issue even when t was at its lowest. Every person is wired different. Only thing ever effect libido for me is stress. So take time to figure what the problem is for sure. I would not want to start with trt in my 20's. I put off to late 40's when it dropped so low due to lessening exsrcise. I had to cut back on exercise after a double compound fracture put a stop to execise. Still affected by pain so exedcising as much as I need still not able. Go for a run or three every week and see if that helps.

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
I don't want to get on trt at this age. Trust me. I got no money for anything else. Just drained it all for a pe system one bipap.
I have been noticing thinning hair over last 6 months, energy lowered for last 4 (of course it may be due to uars but I still feel tired, 1 erection a day on a good day maximum!!!, disinterested in sexual stuff. I overall am different
Question
If I get on trt won't it be temporarily until it's raised and the. Won't the doc just wing me off slowly and make my natural testosterone work again?
Is this something that I'll do forever? Omg....I'm getting scared

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
TRT for low T is permanent. You dont "cycle" like the athletes and bodybuilders do who use the stuff illicitly and illegally. You stay on, 100% of the time, forever. Well, forever or until it causes some side effect that is dangerous and either you or your doctor (or both) decide its not worth it anymore.
When I was 24, I had a really strong sex drive. Would get a rock hard boner if a halfway attractive woman just looked at me.
By my late twenties though, after my hydrocelectomy, I could no longer "get it up." It was really weird and something you associate more with old men than a guy in his late twenties.
Can you "get it up" good? You have any sex drive? Thats what I'd go by.
BTW, sleep apnea and TRT are sometimes a bad combo. TRT is notorious for worsening sleep apnea. There are warnings on the TRT monographs for worsening of Sleep Disordered Breathing while on TRT, Androgel and Testim all have specific mentioning of this TRT side effect in their monographs. I observed my pressures are higher on TRT than off TRT.
I really feel bad for ya. 24 and low T plus sleep apnea. Wow. When I was 24, I was sooooooo healthy. Very sad. I hope you can overcome all of this. Its not stuff a 24 year old ought to be going thru.

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
As I said above, you should be aware that your body will stop producing its own T as soon as you start replacing. If you discontinue TRT, it can take 6 months to a year for natural T production to normalize. There are no guarantees that it would be any higher than before. For many TRT is a lifetime thing, and many do not experience increased sexual drive or better erections. A drug for ED like Levitra or Cialis might be more help in that department.Ruinednose wrote: Question

TRT has risks (increased risk for prostate cancer, etc). You should inform yourself well before starting. Read as much as you can before deciding.

Re: Worried about my Testosterone (24 year old male)
will do.
Its just scares me that low t can cause other stuff too, so i don't feel that i have the luxury of choice because of that...
I don't want to start....how do i get cheaper meds, i go no insurance, how do i find a compund pharmacy.
I guess before anything else i need to find out if its primary or secondary. Got an appointment on Monday and im exited.
I wonder if TRT will help me as far as energy and better concentration and ect...make me a man again...
