In the SleepyHead software - how do I interpret average total leaks? Is this supposed to be zero?

ResMed or PR machine?

Probably a Respironics machine because I don't think that with Resmed machines there is a "Total Leak" data point.

Total Leak with Respironics PR S1 machines include the mask's expected vent rate plus any excess leak.
Vent rates vary with masks and pressures used. Won't ever see 0.0 numbers for Total Leak.

I have a section on leak evaluation here in this thread.

After some false starts with conventional masks, whose odors and discomfort can't tolerate, I have used a cloth mask, which is much more tolerable. Sleepyhead reports that my first night leak rate average was just 1. Seems too good to be true.

I'm using a ResMed 29 Autoset with H5i humidifier and ClimateLine tube.

Heavy spacey feeling when awakening as some others report.

I'm using a ResMed S9 Autoset with H5i humidifier and ClimateLine tube.
The S9 machines reports only excess leak which is a different leak number that Respironics machine report.
An average leak of 1.0 L/min with a S9 machine is indeed possible. That's a great leak number. Your number to avoid is 24 L/min.

Regarding the heavy spacey feeling....unknown cause. Might just be you need more sleep or the sleep you got wasn't so good for some reason...might be related to meds....might be related to apnea events.
More information and detective work is needed before we can offer any ideas about it.

Thank you.

I'm new, and don't know the ropes. Is there a thread where people upload screen shots of their Sleepyhead date for others to comment upon, or is this considered gauche?

Don't know why I can't figure out how to add profile info. I can't even find anything about doing so in the FAQ.

If you want to get a 2nd opinion (2nd to SleepyHead software that is), install the ResMed ResScan software. It has a pretty leak graph.

An "average" leak of 1.0 would be acceptable to me IF the highest leak was not much more than that.

I do NOT have any problems with leaks, but if I were to have a leak that went up even to just 7 or so, that would wake me up.

My leak number MOST nights is 0.00 & I sleep best when that is the case.

But, I am sure the SleepyHead software is accurate.

No special thread and in fact it is preferred that you just start a thread of your own for this purpose. That way your stuff doesn't get mixed up with other people's stuff and you get the attention you deserve.

How to upload the image of the reports explained here if you haven't seen it
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81072&p=737779#p737779

General basic explanation of what you see in SH here

A lot of the basic questions are covered here.

So start a new thread...that's the way we prefer to look at reports.
