S9 Autoset

Post by murphy22 » Tue May 28, 2013 5:06 pm

Last week I got an S9 and was having problems with it and thanks to the people on this site i was sent a video on the S9 and when i got it into clinical mode i found out that so many things weren't set up! I couldn't understand the first night why it was so hard to breathe using this machine when my last one the Intellapap was so easy of course it was because she did not set up the epr. Well i got all of those problems fixed but there is one thing i am still having trouble with. I got the climate hose with it and she set the humidifier to 75 because i told her on my old machine i kept the humidifier at 1, well it isn't working i keep waking with terribly dry nasal passages so i turned it up to the highest setting 86 and still hasn't changed a thing my nose is still dry. I must be doing something wrong or have something set up wrong does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you set the humidifier level? It sounds like the climateline hose temperature setting is getting confused with the humidifier setting...the climateline temperature settings are in the area of 75 (degrees fahrenheit) or so, the humidifier settings are from 1 - 6, getting more moist as you go up. I have my humidifier set to 4, which I just changed from 3 due to dry throat issues *smile*. If you have the manual that tells you how to set the clinical settings, that should have how to do that. On mine, I press the rectangular "i" button right next to the display until "Home" is showing on the menu on the top of the left part of the display. At that point, the humidifier setting is the water drop in that menu (right below "Home"). Just turn the round dial to get to the water drop menu item *smile*, and you can set the humidifier level there. To change the setting once you're in the humidifier setting in the menu, press the round dial, which lets you change the setting. Then rotate the round dial to change the setting. Then when you're happy with your setting, press the round dial again to accept your new setting. And you're done. The available settings go from 1 - 6, increasing the humidity as the number gets larger.

You can expect that you might have condensation/rainout problems at the higher humidifier levels, so you can also increase the climateline hose temperature to help prevent that. I haven't had that problem, but haven't needed to go above the 4 setting, myself. The climateline hose temperature setting is setting using the same technique, the menu item for that is just below the water drop one for the humidifier on the same menu (when "Home" is showing on the top left of the menu *smile*).

You could just play with those two settings until things get better, or come back here and ask for more help. If you've already done the above, never mind, sorry *smile*.

There are two settings in the menu - one for climate control (temp) and another for humidity level. If you haven't adjusted the humidity level I would suggest trying that.

You might first have to adjust the Climateline setting in the clinical menu by taking it off "Auto." I have mine set on "Manual" so that I can independently adjust temp and humidification. Then you should see two icons on your home screen display -- a water drop for the humidification and a thermometer for the temperature.

RogerSC -- you have a nice *smile*

Thanks!!! I just checked it and the climate hose was set to auto, when i changed it then the little drop thing came on! What is strange though is it was set at 3 and on my devilbiss i always had it set to 1 with no problems.

Well thanks...my S9 was apparently set to manual when I got it, never had to make that change. Although I've changed just about everything else over the last year or so *smile*. I especially liked the change where I found out that I could get my AHI for the night directly from the display, which I didn't know about for some time.

Is the water level lower in the morning than it was when you went to bed? If it is the same, the humidifier isn't working at all and you should investigate it from that view. If there is less water in the morning, then it is working, but not enough for you and that is where you should concentrate.

Or did I miss that in your posting?
