Not to be a downer, but...

It is with great sadness that I report Dakota passed away in his sleep yesterday. My husband found him in a pile of leaves, curled in a ball.

He husband buried him behind his favorite bushes.

Rest in peace Dakota -- we will miss you.

This is the first time in over 20 years we haven't had a dog. It feels so strange.

Oh wow, Madalot, I'm so sorry for your loss. Bless his heart, he was a beautiful boy.

Labs are wonderful.

Oh I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you. I know how weird the house feels when we lose our cherished pet/friend/baby. I'm so sorry for your loss. xoxoxoxooxoxo

Thank you. It was a surprise for sure. He was fine the day before, jumping around like he always did and ate all his dinner.

But if he had to go, this was the best way, peacefully in his sleep. No prolonged illness or suffering.

I am so sorry Maddie. It always makes me cry when I hear this news no matter whose family member passed. I feel your pain.
Sending you a big hug and a few of my tears to share with yours.

I agree, our Styx did the same thing - lived a long time - he was 17 when he finally curled up in the living room . . . let loose one of his famous "Styx! Oh grief!! Here's some burnt toast!!" . . . stink bombs, then went to sleep, and just didn't wake up again.

LOL. . .I can honestly say, he got the last word in.

Madalot, it's always so painful when your companion passes on the Rainbow Bridge. Enjoy the sweet memories in anticipation of seeing them again.

My spoiled rotten worthless mangy mongrel. Just so happens that's the breed I really really like!

My six year old baby, Minnie. She can speak over a hundred words and sentences. She is the most awesome companion ever!!! She was a baby in this pic. I hope she outlives me, because I couldn't be with out her!
Absolutely no regrets!
I never did mind the little things.
