Darn allergies
Just when I was making progress my allergies got me. So much for 24-hr allergy meds! Everything was going great until around 3:30 last night when one side of my nose decided to clog up. The rest of the night (morning) was hell.

Re: Darn allergies
Have you tried a saline nasal rinse? I spent a good part of the day yesterday cleaning out the garage (my energy IS coming back!) and as a result of all the dust I was pretty much shut down in the nasal business. A few squirts in both nostrils (and repeated after about 3 hours) and I was pretty open by bed time. It felt good too. This was the first time I have tried this, but it worked great. I am also noticing I am more open this morning as well.

Re: Darn allergies
Were you sleeping on your side? It is normal to have the nostril on the lower side (facing the mattress) clog up. The blood pools there.when one side of my nose decided to clog up.
One solution for me is to roll to the other side. Of course the other nostril eventually gets congested and then I roll again.
The solution I use most often is just to sleep on my back.

Welcome Cottonwood! I don't need the allergy report to let me know what days are bad!
I take two different 24 hour allergy medications 12 hours apart. They work differently, but the overlap helps with those hours where once stops and the other is still full force.

I have one congested side everyday. Nasal pillows have been working fine for me with this scenario. Air shoots in and out on the open side and sleep is not a problem.

+1
Not to try to talk you out of your current gear, but clogged sinus passages was one of the big reasons I changed to Swift FX nasal pillows. Something to consider if all else fails.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Since I started doing pulse oximeter guided eucapnic breathing allergies have not been a problem. I love the smells of spring, summer, and fall!

Re: Darn allergies
I did sleep on my sides ... I have been the past three nights. I generally do well in the first part of the night, then fall apart the second stretch. I don't know what really happened last night except I know that around 3:15-3:20 I sorta panicked and ripped off my mask (a first). I felt like I couldn't exhale against the pressure and my breaths felt shallow.

My pressure has never gone so high and worst OAs to date on treatment. I'm thinking all this stemmed from the clogged nose. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Cafeinated
I was using steroids sprays for 2 years, two pumps each nostril each day and I changed several times because nothing was strong enough I even needed to take cortisone pills once so bad were my sinuses. The moment I stopped using it the allergic rhinitis started very fast.
People told me to try the saline rinse but to me that was too simple
Finally I said to myself I'm feed up of using this steroid as much as I do. I started using 1/2 of the bottle of Neilmed each day and after I think one or two weeks my sinuses stopped becoming congested. No more steroid spray or any pill.
I'm very sensitive to diesel fumes and pollution, cigarette, dandelions and birch. If I was breathing diesel fumes or cigarette my sinuses reacted instantly. Now I don't need to use the steroid anymore, the Neilmed I stop it from time to time and I start only when my sinuses start giving signs of starting to swollen. I'm a bit more resistant to cigarette and diesel, it takes a longer exposure to make trouble.
That works, test it there is nothing to lose. I think because we clean the interior of the nose the allergenic don't have the time to affect our tissue and it doesn't become swollen, that's my explanation.
Good luck.
FYI I started again using the Neilmed because now we are on a high season of allergy because the snow is gone and the rotten stuff under the snow created something we are allergic. After the Spring is really installed I know I can stop again the Neilmed for a time. No more cortisone YEAH !

An old problem. I use nasonex.
My ent says it is the only one that will do the job.
Unfortunately it is not on the "free" list in Australia.

My insurance won't cover it, while it covers just about everything else. I tried a sample from the doctor, and it helped. With a discount coupon, it works out to $136 a month, which I can't do. I tried for their free program, but no response. I think I will email them and try again. I sure wish my insurance covered that one.

Re: Darn allergies
Thanks for the tips. I'll try the rinse although I think the other night was a combo punch of side-sleeping and allergies (it is mold season up here). I slept mostly on my back last night and as you can see ... much better results. And as some like to ask - I feel much better than I did yesterday.

I have been taking the advise from this forum and upping my min pressure each night. I think I'm going to end up needing 10-12cm.
