When you ask a question like this to more than one person at a time you are going to get both yes and no answers, they mean nothing, it's what it will do for you that counts.

For the most part it doesn't make a difference, what we do with our lives controls our weight. I started at 295, 7 years ago, am now at 350, doesn't look like it's helped me loose any weight, but I'm alive, that's why I use XPAP. Jim

What often happens is that people feel less tired so they start doing more. Also sleep deprivation makes you want to eat more. So the end result is less eating and more exercise.

For other people it doesn't quite work that way. Good sleep also aids with digestion and makes it more efficient.

Also cpap therapy doesn't fix your emotional eating or your bad habits.

In my short period of CPAP usage, one month total, 2 *good* weeks, I've noticed that there are many times where in the past I'd eat more but now I don't seem to want to eat quite as much. I've also done more around the house in the last two weeks than the last two years. I don't know that this will keep up without some will power on my end, but I'm hoping it will be a nice side effect of being on CPAP. BTW, I am 100+ pounds overweight FWIW.

I lost 8 lbs during the first 8 months; without changing anything else.
I think it had something to do with no longer needing to 'graze' to stay awake at work.

I'm normally pretty slim cuz I'm into super endurance sports coupled with eating right... however on CPAP I've been more rested. Being more rested I'm more happy. Being more happy I want to enjoy life more fully. Being that I want to enjoy life more fully, I want to enjoy the forbidden food I love. Being that I'm enjoying more forbidden food, I've gained five pounds. I guess I've got to work on being less rested and happy. Ah, the paradox. I'll figure it out somehow.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I've lost over 100 lbs but can only attribute the first 20 or so to CPAP.

Your body will find its own proper weight if you just feed it the right food which is -- lots of FRESH vegetables, moderate FRESH meat, small amounts of FRESH fruits and nuts, (all organic if possible) and drink plenty of water ... do not eat or drink anything else. That means nothing out of a sealed and labeled can, bottle, box, or bag (ie. shop only at the meat/fish and produce sections of your grocer or better yet your local farmer's market and even better still grow your own).

Evolution has designed our body cells to thrive on fresh vegetables and meats and the genes within each of our cells express themselves with optimal health when you feed them what they were designed for.

It will also help speed things up to walk at least 20 minutes every day, lift something heavy for 20 minutes once a week, and move as fast as you can for 10 minutes once a week. A little sun exposure makes living cells happy too. Finally, good rest and sleep mixed with stress reduction techniques (ie. laughter, sex, play, music, mediation/prayer, compassion, charity, etc.) is good for you too.

i asked my doc specifically about if cpap would cause weight gain because i had gained weight but also had changed some meds. she said that, if anything, cpap would tend to cause weight loss. everyone has a different opinion, this just what my doc told me when i asked.

I figure I lost 10-15 pounds due to cpap therapy. Because cpap therapy made me feel better, I can run faster when chasing rascals. Less tasing... more tackling... Sheriff

Congratulations on the weight loss! I still have a few more to go, but the AHI is now down around 1, so I am hoping I can get back to losing again soon. Keep up the good work keeping us all safe so we can get the full benefit of effective treatment!

When my sleep problems were at their worst, I had so little energy, needed to nap in the afternoon whenever I got a chance, and felt like I didn't have the energy to keep my house clean, much less exercise. Sometimes I'd try, and I was so wiped out, I had nothing left for daily responsibilities. CPAP is helping with the energy and I'm getting back into getting more exercise.

Good post, Excellent advise!

I've lost 33 lbs since February mainly attributed to a "low carb" diet which consists a lot of basically what you mentioned above. And lots of water! I find water curbs my appetite also. I also think the xPAP has helped me especially at night, simply because I tend not to want to keep snacking into the night after the mask is on because that tells me it's time to sleep
