SleepyHead BETA 0.9.1 for Mac OS X

Post by Breathe Jimbo » Thu Dec 22, 2011 2:12 pm

SleepyHead is now beta!

The first beta drop is available at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyh ... %20Builds/

Please read the release notes carefully.

The focus now is on SMASHING BUGS! Please test everything and report all bugs and other problems so that Mark can fix them. If you experience any crashes, please forward a copy of the crash report to Mark. You can find the crash report in your ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter folder.

Due to major improvements in the data structure, data are now stored in a SleepyHeadData folder under Documents. You can delete your SleepApp folder whenever you want, as the beta no longer uses it. However, if you have been storing notes, Zombie readings, weights, etc. and want to retain that information, you will need to keep a copy of the pre-beta SleepyHead somewhere and use it to access the old journal information so that you can transfer it manually to the beta version of SleepyHead.

Enjoy, and please report all bugs and other problems to Mark!

I downloaded the betta mac version and it worked fine. With the old one I had 2 different profiles ( 2 different machines) Is there a way I can continue this. The data is in two different folders.I imported one folder ( bob VA). The other is (bob)
Would you also post the link to asking questions.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Have a great Holiday season.

It downloaded just fine but I can't import my data. The same SD card worked fine this morning with the old version. Now I get the dreaded rotating cube!

The best way is to create a SourceForge account and then subscribe to the sleepyhead-users mailing list:

You create new profiles in exactly the same way as you did with the last pre-beta version. The General tab of Preferences has a checkbox to Skip Login Screen. If you are not seeing the login screen, which includes the option to create a new profile, then you should uncheck Skip Login Screen.

You must reimport your data because of the new data structure and the change to using the new SleepyHeadData folder instead of the old SleepApp folder.

I put the card in the card reader, click on import on the welcome page and get a message of "no data" on each date that I have imported data in the old version. The card reader is working. I was able to import into the older version today but not the new version. I reinstalled 0.9.0 yesterday, but with the same results. When I first installed 0.9.0, it made the older version disappear from my application folder and I had to reinstall that also. It's probably just me, since I'm no computer expert.

Are you sure you are selecting the correct directory? I don't have a PRS1, but I seem to recall a lot of discussion about selecting the correct directory, and not double-clicking on it, in other threads. That's the only thing that comes to mind. Otherwise, I have no idea why it is not working for you.

Maybe you can do a screen recording to show exactly what you are attempting? The Quicktime Player X in Lion can make a video-only screen recording easily.

Please click on the Help menu, then on Check for Updates. If all goes according to plan, SH should be updated automatically from 0.9.0 to 0.9.1. (You can find the version number by clicking on the SleepyHead menu, then on About SleepyHead.) Please try this now and report back whether it does, or does not, work for you.

If you have problems on restarting SH, the first thing to try - after reporting the exact nature of the problems - is closing SH, deleting the Documents/SleepyHeadData (rather than SleepApp) folder, and restarting SH. Next, create a new profile, then reimport your data from backup.

Mark is eager to know whether the automatic updater is working for others on the Mac OS X platform. If you have SleepyHead 0.9.0 for Mac OS X installed, please follow the instructions in the immediately preceding post to update from 0.9.0 to 0.9.1, then report back whether the automatic updater worked for you.

I now have the latest version of SH for Mac and still can't get any data to download. The card and card reader and computer worked fine this morning with the old pre-beta version. I have tried reinserting the card in the card reader, downloading from every level of folder on the card. I tried creating a new user. Still I get No Data on every day that I've used it. I had data on the old version (which worked great, btw). Now that version has disappeared and I have no way of reading my card. Can I get the old version back again? I'm frustrated!

Try unchecking the box to enable multithreading, in Preferences. That should allow you to import data again. Mark is aware of this problem.
