encore pro software

Post by raymort » Fri Mar 03, 2006 11:09 am

Hi all,
I am a new member as of today and my questions are the following:

1 Can the cpap cards be read from any smart card reader/writer?
2 What format is the data stored on the smart card?
3 Can it be imported into say a database in the form of delimited text, ascii or any other format.
4 What make or kind of smart cards are used and can you get blank ones from a supplier??

5 can the smart card be read/write with the SCM SwapSmart SCR111 reader/writer??

I am looking at manipulating the data and producing my own statistics so as to see what the correlation is between diabetics and none diabetics with sleep apnea. I would also like to determine how medication effects the sleep pattern with and with out a cpap on.

I have asked a load of questions here i know and it maybe beyond the scope of this forum.
Footnote I am a user of a Respironics CPAP and i am also diabetic type II. I am a retired Lecturer of computing, IT & ICT to degree level. I have been retired on medical grounds so i have time on my hands. I am gathering material for the diabetic clinic that i attend hence my questions above.

Many thanks
Ray Moreton in the UK, England, city of Hereford

If I read your message wrong excuse me, but you don't say that you are a CPAP user, and your message can be interpreted to suggest that you want to collect data from many other people who are CPAP users and make comparisons. Not all CPAP machines store data on cards.
This could actually be a very complex set of hardware, software, and database structure issues.
I mail ordered a card reader from Hong Kong for US$30 and purchased the Encore Pro software from a distributor. This software is sold by Respironics, the maker of my CPAP, so whatever the Respironics database architecture is, this Respironics software can deal with it. But I would be surprised if there were an industry standard for this, so a different manufacturer's machine likely stores different data in different fields, and my software wouldn't be able to read it.

1. No, only a DT 3500 I-N-F-I-N-E-E-R. from 2factors $30.80 post paid.

2. The data is stored in the format Encore Pro with the DT 3500 reader work with, the reader has to use the Endore Pro drivers to work.

3. All things can be done by someone with enough money and time, I am short on both.

4. New cards can be bought at cpap.com or your DME. Cost @ cpap.com $10+shipping.

5. No, only the DT 3500

You can enter the data into Excel and do about anything you want with it.
I am type II, and see very little reason why there would be a difference except for the fact that both problems degrade your health to the max in all areas.

Each brand uses it's own softwars and method of downloading, no standards for format or data_________________

I have had a think about the card reader if it has the following industry standards then all smart cards should be able to be seen on a reader/writer of the following Specifications / Features

Supports ISO 7816 -1/2/3, T0, T1 Asynchronous protocol
Windows 9x, NT,2000,
Highly integrated two-chip solution using SCM's proprietary ASIC design
Autolearning mode for ETU width
Standary support PC/SC, Open card, CT-API(B1)
Supports data exchange from 9600 to 115200 bps through 9 pin DB9 connector
Smart card connector up to 100,000 insertions
3V and 5V smart card compatible
Power via pass-through PS/2 part 4.5V 5.5V
Short circuty detection, protects smart card and reader
Power supply compliant with ISO 7816 and EMV 3.1.1(5V,60mA
