And yet another one.

PS. For those who have the S8 and find rain out when using the humidifier, I recommend using the Ozzie heated hose. Made by a bloke in Gouldburn who i've met.

PS. On the radio going to work today I heard that you're an Aussie if...
It makes perfect sense to abbreviate Wagga Wagga to Wagga, but not Woy Woy to Woy;
And the phrase "Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas" makes sense; and if a place name like Woolloongabba seems perfectly reasonable.

Rule of thumb has always been the bottom straps are loose than top straps.

Also go "User Control Panel" and register your equipment there. Also display equipment as text not pictures. Makes it easier for folks to see what you have.

Thanks Starlette and everybody else for the help - my cpap machine is not listed on this website I am using for the time being a Resmed Autoset S8 spirit.

I have been on cpap for 4 days and I LOVE IT - I have not slept so deeply in years WOW what a difference this has made in just under a week - I woke up today lying flat on my back breathing in and out calmly through my nasal mask I could never lie on my back without choking in the past.- A Miracle

Have a great day everyone - Peter

p.s. Starlette I have lossened my mask as suggested - thanks again for all the help.

You're welcome Peter. It's the goal of everyone to make our therapy work for us for a better life.

I'm doing the same thing as you with the strap tweaking with the new mask I started using this past Sunday.
This mask blows up like an accordion. The masks wishes to not be up close and personal with you. Rather it wants to be fitted looser like my Swift FX for Her so I've been tweaking out on the lower strap for the last couple of nights. When I either see leaks in my data or start hear that "pssssssss" sound, I'll know I've gone too far.

Thanks to ozzie_dollar for showing me that Resmed masks are available on ebay for us Australians at similar prices to the USA, in other words less than half price!

I have to say I am very happy with my F & P mask I ordered from CPAP(DOT)COM but I will keep it in mind.

It is obviously illegal to sell cpap machines on ebay as I couldn't find any for sale although I would have thought second hand ones would show up?

Anybody have any thoughts on that one?

Grant

hi, I am an Aussie (born that way). North Coast NSW

interesting the Austrsalian guy who invented the CPAP was working on them for SIDS kids (cot deaths) . nice little side benefit we enjoy.

DME I reckon stands for Definately Medically Exploited.
DH stands for Dick Heads, being the politicians and Morans who vote for them that can't get basic medicare for all people, like we have in Australia. hence 40% of medical costs are administrative and legal costs arguing with DMEs DHs and Attorneys.
(and before you drool socialist salivas, there are costs here too, gap payments, waiting times, less choice of practitioners and surgeons, and, for the Disability NSW scheme to supply xPAP machines, a month rental to get data, an 18 month waiting list and a $100 payment - as IF I AM GOING TO WAIT THAT LONG).

I'm currently looking at buying a machine (Devilbiss probably ) , and definately not from here. I doubt that Resmed make their machines here anymore. I tried to find out and couldn't. I'd better hurry the way the exchange rates are going (people are flocking to US Treasury Bonds for safety? hahhhhh!)

heres an "Australian" article written quite well.

(sorry I cant get this url code to work.)

I wonder if the Australasian Sleep Association will have their next conference again in Christchruch (given the Seismic situation). hehe. nice place to sleep though.

Gums Hurting / Gum Sheild ??????

Post by DyingOnMyFeet » Sun Oct 23, 2011 11:42 pm

Hi - anyone here had problems with their gums hurting from the cpap mask resting / pressing against their gums all night long - I am in my 4 week of cpap and LOVE IT but I was wondering if anyone wore gum shields to bed to overcome the problem I just describe of sore gums in the morning from the cpap mask resting / pressing against their gums all night long.

The mask description I use is below

Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear

Cheers Peter

p.s. This is the only problem I have with Cpap therapy - otherwise I LOVE IT and how good it makes me feel.

Here is a review of my machine: http://www.ceviews.org/150/philips-resp ... ystem-one/ and one I borrowed before buying it: http://www.ceviews.org/72/resmed-autose ... ep-device/

Several individuals in the US act as buyer's agents for Aussies. I haven't used one but have followed the threads in Whirlpool (a popular Aussie forum) where the wisdom of the crowds is usually better than mine. This is different from companies that give you a US mailing address, but many of them are blacklisted by the likes of Amazon, so getting a US resident to buy in their own name is better for some purchases.

Different from the USA but the power supply in your machine will probably work - look for something like 100V - 240V on it.

Just buy an adapter for Australia/NZ/China before you leave the US, as the ones sold to tourists cost too much. Here are some images - http://bit.ly/uGU1Pt

PNG uses the same as this.
