A Break from OSA Talk for one Moment
In keeping with Neversleeps tradition of photos that make you run for your electric blanket, I thought this may make you appreciate wherever you're living this winter. Enjoy.

Bill,
Yeah we have had a cold snap come in. In Stanley, Idaho, just a 2 hours from here the overnight low was -10. Sure makes me miss Arizona in the winter. I just continue to hang in there for our beautiful summers here. Growing up in CA and living 12 years in AZ make it hard to take cold winters. I don't envy you and your weather at all.

Looks like downtown Buffalo, NY by the lake.... hehehhe...
We just had a wind storm go through. It whips up the lake and the wave spray goes up and freezes as it hits stuff. Route 5 looks a lot like those pictures when it does this.
Only.... Buffalo... not a place in Switzerland.... so... dirtier.

Gary,
Yes, your Florida has been hit very hard with hurricanes over the last 10 years!!!! I don't know how people there cope with it. We have tornadoes here. Last fall, Iowa got hit pretty hard (one town about 15 miles SW and another town 15 miles north of me were devastated). But in all the devastation, people rise to the occasion and do everything they can to help their fellow man, it brings out the best in us!!!!!!!!!

Nice pictures!
Makes me appreciate the 80 degree day we had Wednesday here in Texas. Except tonight it is 26 with freezing drizzle.
Well, as they say here, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute!"

When I woke up this morning my girlfriend asked me, 'Did you sleep well?' I said 'No, I made a few mistakes.' Steven Wright
Lori,
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Kind of puts things into perspective for everyone who sees them.
It was a little warmer here last night, but the previous couple of nights it was about 22 below zero. There was one weather sensor closer to Yellowstone that recorded 32 below.
Back to the pictures.....dealing with SNOW is one thing.....the ICE in those pictures is something else. And, it's probably salt water, too.....will turn everything into little piles of rust when it thaws out.
Heard there were power outages in areas near you......since your computer seems to be working, I assume it didn't affect your neighborhood.
Take care, my friend.

Den,
Fortunately, this has not been a typical NY/Long Island winter for us. Up until last weekend, it had been pretty uneventful as far as snowfall. The temperature, too, had been staying pretty warm for us until this past week, the last two days especially. And although it feels a lot colder the past couple of days, it's really rather normal to have these types of temperatures all winter long. Like I said, we've been pretty lucky this season. As for you, I had NO idea that Wyoming got so cold. If I think 20-30 is cold, I can't imagine how you can deal with -23 degrees. Stay toasty and well.
Wading,
NO! Thank goodness they weren't photos from out my back door! And now that I've just written how lucky we've been, I may be responsible for changing our luck around here (yes, I do believe in jinxing a positive by talking about it). Hope your weather is tolerable and you are well.
