Las Vegas- forgot humidifier hose

Post by reitzell » Fri Sep 02, 2011 6:44 pm

I am visiting Las Vegas and I forgot the little hose that goes from my CPAP machine to my external humidifier. I would prefer to not "...just do without." Does anyone know where I can get a hose in Las Vegas or have any specific suggestions to fix this problem?

Thank you in advance,
Rob

Labor Day Weekend i don't think you will find a DME that is open even if you have your script with you. Some of the labrats might have a solution, hopefully somebody will come along and save you soon. I wonder if you could get a small length of hose at Lowe's or an aquarium store or something that might work. Maybe some of the travelers know. Good luck. You can probably get a replacement on Tues if you can find a DME. If you don't have your script and they give you grief, tell them to call your Dr for the order. I'll bet your insurance will not pay though. Check at the hotel, someone might have forgotten what you need to borrow for a few nights. How to clean it if you have luck? Vinegar water. Good luck, hope you win big at the casino.

Hey, just discussed your problem with my hubby, and he suggests you try an auto parts store for the diameter and length of hose you need, he thinks they will cut it to the size you need, and maybe a clamp would work to hold it? Worth a try if nobody else jumps in with an answer for you.

Looks on Las Vegas craigslist. You never know what you may find.

Thanks for your quick replies.

I found a company that said call them in the morning. I tried to MacGyver something and failed.

I'll also check craigslist.

Thanks!

You could also try calling a hospital and ask for their central supply office, tell them what you need and maybe they can help you out.

If I was desperate enough I would tape the end of my mask hose to the exit of the humidifier and just keep the CPAP in the bed with me.

I would walk into a DME and explain you have severe apnea and left your hose at home. Next time always travel with a paper copy of your script but you may run into a human being at the DME (it does happen) and they may just give you a hose. Its worth a shot.

I have today off so let me know if you want me to call around some DMEs out there and see what I can do. I can usually sweet talk people into things, I am in sales.

Nope, I didn't get one. I have that number I'm going to try that this morning. I hope to get this fixed today.

Someone probably asked this but can you use the machine without the humidifier?

Found a guy on craigslist who gets off at 5 who is going to sell me one for 15 bucks.

I know some people can do go without a humidifier but I really can't.

Thanks everyone,

Rob
