I just wanted to say...welcome and hope that you found your soluation here. I'm a new hosehead, 2 months in and I have to say if it wasn't for the board and all of the great people and information I don't know if I would have made it. The first week was hell!! The mask was not user friendly for the way I was use to sleeping and I just felt horrible, depressed and very tired. My coworker has used CPAP for years and he and his board pushed me back to the DME for a new mask and what a big difference. Get one that works for you!!! It's make all the difference. I generally use my machine 8 - 9 hours except on the nights that I drink too much or too late in the evening than it's pretty broken up on time. I was a very heavy snorer and my daughter says our house is now TOO quiet and she checks on me to make sure I'm breathing....
Good Luck and use what information is helpful for you and leave the rest!!!

I have to say--YOU ARE ALL SO WONDERFUL!
Thanks so much, both for the welcome and the encouragement. I DO feel better than I did a few days ago. Seeing how well y'all cope has made a huge difference for me.
I'm starting to see this as a new opportunity to feel good and quit being such a cranky pants

Re: Scared/Upset Newbie
I SOO understand what you're feeling. I'm on my 4th night of CPAP and I'm still sleeping in the spare bedroom until I get used to it. I was soo terrified of this process I actually wrecked my car 2x from being emotionally pre-occupied and exhausted. The one piece of advice I can give you is to think about the end result. The GREAT way you will feel in the morning! I feel soo good now when I wake up and not falling asleep at my desk at work that it's totally worth it. When I put that headgear on, and fight with the hose (not used to it yet) I just think about how great I will feel in the morning! I will also say, don't be scared to try different types of masks or ask for your machine to be adjusted. I'm on my 2nd type of mask and have already had my machine adjusted. Ask for changes that will make you more comfortable. The end result is all that matters! And, it has not put a dent in any other part of my life that doesn't involve JUST sleep! Good Luck!
