Where's the problem, though? If you don't want people to know your political opinions, religious beliefs or whatever else, simply don't post about them. In that case, there is no way anyone can think badly about you because of your beliefs or opinions and hence no problem for you to worry about. It can be hard to do sometimes when something you see pushes your buttons. When that happens to me, I close the thread or otherwise just stop looking at the discussion (close the browser, walk away from computer etc). Then I'm not tempted to get involved. I don't blame you for not liking some things you see on this forum, but remember just because we have sleep disorders in common doesn't mean we necessarily have anything else in common. I've noticed a wide range of beliefs and opinions on here over the years, though I do think this forum tends to take a certain slant. Perhaps it's indicative of the type of people who take charge of their lives and therapy, IDK, but the point is you're not required to participate in OT threads or reveal anything about yourself you don't want others knowing. It's all up to you, just like getting the best sleep therapy is all up to you.AndyCelt wrote:What I don't like are topics that serve to divide and separate forum members. Why? Because, selfishly, I need your help and I don't want anyone to read my posts and say Oh, he's a (Republican/Democrat/Catholic/Protestant/Buddhist etc. etc. so on) and because I don't like what he is, I won't share my experience and knowledge with him. I need help with this stuff. I really do. And if I have help to give, I will try to do so. As a result, I don't enjoy topics that don't serve to build community, because we all need this community, otherwise we would not be here.
