There IS a problem...considering there are TWO valid Executive Orders currently in effect which prohibit the US from targeting foreigners for assassination. But the law doesn't seem to apply to Osama...I mean...OBAMA!

Executive Orders 11905 and 12333. Neither have been rescinded. Check 'em out.

Not to worry. Eric Holder, the Attorney General who is still in the process of investigating our intelligence people who interrogated the terrorist so they can be prosecuted, ruled the killing of Osama was "self defense".

Per 11905 -
(g) Prohibition of Assassination. No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination

12333 - Pretty vague and leaves to open to interpretation.

11905 clearly states "Political" assassination which Bin Laden was clearly not a politician.

Personally I could believe that he was reaching for a gun. I wouldn't argue with the SEALs if they stated with that and would sleep perfectly fine at night believing it. God knows he didn't sleep through the firefight. I find it remarkable that none of the kids in the room were injured....not surprised because of who the shooters were.

Of course you could say that defense contractors made out like bandits over the last ten years.

It says "political assassination", not "assassination of a politician". Osama may not have been elected, but do you really think he wasn't a political figure?

Obamas on the TV again (5th day in a row) playing this Osama thing out for all it's worth. I bet he will show the photos of a dead Osama right about election time next year.

Now that Osama is fish food (may include traces of lead), can we balance the national budget????

I have some serious problems with a couple of the statements in the graphic. However there is no doubt in my mind that we have needlessly killed and maimed many and done great economic damage to ourselves and others with our meddling in the business of other countries. Obama is turning out to be a big disappointment in this area.

We could make serious progress toward that goal if we were willing to pay a bit more in taxes.
The post-World War II historic average is that federal revenues equal about 18 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product, the broadest measure of annual economic production......

Revenues plunged to around 15 percent of the economy in 2009 and 2010 amid the deep financial crisis, and dipped even further this year, to 14.4 percent, the lowest level since 1950.

45% of the families in this country pay no income taxes. I'll bet that is a record number too.

Yes if we would get a flat tax (FairTax would be best) and get rid of all the deductions that liberal and conservative scum have written into the code to appease constituents and keep themselves in office, the revenues would be much more stable. With The FairTax, foreign investment would boom and economic recovery would be swift and huge.

Our tax code is 7,000,000 (that is seven million for you liberals) words. Total insanity. Obama should get off his ass and do something about it.

He may have affected our politics but no I didn't consider him a politician. He was a terrorist plain and simple. His goal simply put was to destroy our way of life.

When I've read the Executive orders before my interpretation was that we were not allowed to assassinate the leaders of other countries.

No, Congress has to get off its collective ass and do something about it. In the face of a recalcitrant Congress the President is pretty much powerless.

The only reason Reagan was able to push through Social Security changes in the early 80's was because the change in full retirement age was postponed nearly 20 years. People didn't pay attention to the change until about 5 years before the full retirement age started to move above 65. All of a sudden people who had been planning on getting their full SS benefit at 65 and found out it would 65 and 6 months, or 66, or whatever age it would be for them, finally took notice. They were about 15 years late. It was a shrewd move on RR's part.

Now, if O presented a tax reform plan that wouldn't have a major impact for 20 years, it might get passed. By then most Congressman will have left office and wouldn't have to take the heat for the change. But by then the country will really be broke, or the debt will be erased and China will own us.

Oh, by the way So Well, please don't lump me in with the liberal crowd. I prefer to consider myself as a disenchanted Republican who is more likely to vote anti-Republican than pro-Democrat. There was a day when I pretty much voted straight R ticket. When Reagan ran against Carter my dilemma was whether to vote Republican or Baptist. But the last few years of the Republicans' attitude that, "The only person who matters is me," and, "If you can't make it on your own, too bad," has been a real turn off for me.
